Okay so I am on day 7 of P3. My LIW is 136.4.On Sunday I was over my LIW, so I did a high protein day, wasn't able to weigh Mon. was out the door at 6 and didn't get home til 6, and barely ate that day. Tuesday I was down 137.8 and ate 2 eggs with cheese, about 4oz of tuna on lettuce for lunch, dinner had 4 oz of chicken on GF grill, sting cheese, almonds and about 130 oz of water and tea. Wed down to 137, ate 2 eggs w/cheese, string cheese and almonds for snacks, 4oz of tuna on lettuce, 4oz of chicken on grill and 11/2 patties of hamburger with slice of tomato and lettuce for dinner. Today I am up to 138. I have had 2 eggs for breakfast with no cheese and that is all so far. Almonds and eggs have never bothered me in the past 2 rounds. So since it usually takes 2 days to see what effects you, tomorrow if the scale goes up should I take out almonds and eggs or one or the other? I have had nothing different. The only thing I have added in P3 is tuna, eggs, almonds, cheese. Thats it. Should I skip almonds totally today and just eat more protein to go back down a little? And is there TOO much protein I can eat? Sorry to bother, this P3 round is so different from previous.
how much protein should I eat? I think on Tues alone I figured I ate about 115 grams of protein and that seemed like ALOT. I do love my almonds and eat about a cup a day. How much protein do you eat on high protein days, can you give me a menu example? And what more do you think I should eat?
i think you're eating enough protein- you're probably up to about double your P2 intake by the time you add it all up. but i see a big lack of veggies! i'd be eating 2 good servings of veggies a day, at a bare minimum.
you're still within your 2# range so you're fine. you are going to see some normal variation, partly from the scale and partly from your body. how often you have BM's might also affect it. foods that are inflammatory (and thus cause water retention) don't necessarily show their face on the scale the next day- it might be the day after. you also might be able to eat small quantities of things many people are sensitive to (like dairy and eggs), but not larger quantities, or not several days in a row. there are so many variables that it's hard to figure it out. even if you ate exactly the same thing every day, your weight would vary.
nuts are very salty, which causes water retention. so even if you get away with the high calories of them, your weight might vary due to water retention.
you do have a lot of nuts, dairy and eggs in your diet, though. i'd trade some of that out for alternative protein sources, and add more veggies. i also notice you're not eating any fruit- is that all the time on P3, or just on high protein days? i think it's good to eat at least one per day on a normal P3 day. on a high-protein day, i'd concentrate on lean sources of protein and a small amount of veggies- and cut out the dairy, eggs, and nuts.
depending on the overall health of your gut, you tend to develop new sensitivities to foods you eat a lot of- so i'd vary your diet as much as possible, especially given the limitations of P3. i ate many of the same foods and developed new sensitivities- same for P2 foods.
I guess I do eat the same all the time. Tuna, chicken and hamburger is about the meat I eat. I have no steak and have a hard time affording it. I haven't had fruit because I was trying to come down again. I did eat half a peach yesterday, otherwise I normally do eat fruit. And vegis I always have with my tuna, just not alot and when I eat my chicken its usually salad style except on high protein days. I am now .6 away from being over my LIW, and thought I would do a high protein day today but already ate 2 eggs. Should I just eat normal today, but cut out the almonds for a couple of days and see how that goes. They are kind of my life saver when I want to reach for something sugary. As far as bms go, I am so bad at that. My usual is normally once a week even not on the diet. So I try to do smooth move tea every few days. Can you recommend something more regular for me. I eat vegis and fruit and it still doesn't help. Oh and I never salt anything, everything is salt free, even nuts and spices.
Margie.... What did you mean when you stated "especially given the limitations of P3" Maybe I've missed something but I don't find I have limitations in P3.
Offroad.... I tend to agree with Colleen and think for a high protein day you need to increase your protein more. Also, since you're within the 2 pound range I wouldn't try to force your body to lose that added little weight. Remember yo-yo dieting probably played a big part in our metabolisms being messed up to being with. Let your body try to stabilize. Just my thoughts...
Okay so I will eat normal today, add fruit and vegis and keep up the protein. Maybe decrease my almonds today. If tomorrow I am up then maybe it is eggs or almonds? I guess yesterday diet would reflect tomorrow more. And had about the same stuff. So frustrating.
I'd eat a minimum of 6 oz of meat a meal. I usually shoot for a little more. I'd also add some more fats like coconut oil stuff. Cocoa crack is a good way to add that. :-)
ok so I didnt know how high in calories almonds were. In one cup its like 840 calories. I prob am hurting myself with that alone. I thought I was doing good by not eating sugar and eating almonds instead. So minimum of 18 oz of meat 3 times a day. Plus other proteins, got it. Guess no almonds for a while, and no cinnamon ones either :( ,
