Grammy - I started my journey in April 2010 with r1 hcg cream 40 day round and lost 30 pounds to 175. (I'm 5 ft 5 1/2 inches tall) In P3 without even trying I continued to lose slightly and stablized in the low 160s. I added things back slowly was very diligent with adding one item at a time. I have a milk allergy and believe I have a gluten intolance, but I ate cheese, eggs, etc without an effect. Slight swelling with shellfish. I even got to where I was eating a few squares of milk chocolate with no effect to the weight.

I spent the required weeks before r2. Round 2 (same plan - cream and 40 day round) was more difficult mentally than round 1, but I still successfully lost 30 pounds to my goal weight of 145 on the last day of the round and dipped to 143 in the 72 hour period. BUT---This P3 I've been much more sensitive. I've been having a crazy time stablizing. Even though I'm doing the same things as the first round. Here is what happened --- week 1 and 2 --- pretty much 145 - 146, week 3 again 146, week 4 - jumped to 148 --- and no amount of steak days, high protein days, going back to clean eating helped. Because I read the forum, I figured that I was just going to stablize at 3 lbs above LDW and had reconciled myself to that for weeks 5 and 6. I am now in week 7 and I started off the week at 149. (still within 1 lb of new LDW) but today I'm 150 so I did a steak day today. But I'm frightened at the inching up. I do have Hashimotos and am being treated with Armour Thyroid successfully. Am 41 years old so cycles still matter. In fact, yesterday was a ovulation day -- so if I was not 2 lbs over LDW -- -I wouldn't have worried at all.

What do I typically eat --- 3 eggs, spinach and small amount of feta for breakfast, cucumber for snack at 10, lunch is 8 oz of chicken or hamburger with a large spinach salad (dry), apple for snack at 3 pm, 6 pm is dinner which has been either hamburger or a 8-10oz ribeye steak with asparagus (steamed) and then 1 lb - 1 1/2 lbs of strawberries before bed. Some snacking during the day on block parmesan cheese.

I haven't added back any starchs and any sugars. I am frightened to do so without getting this under control. I accepted 148 as a fact -- but quite frankly that is way higher than the charts for my height (130-135), so I don't think that is the issue. Any ideas? I'm willing to live without any food to get this under control. But quite frankly -- I'm feeling out of control. I track everything in a journal diligently -- so if you can think of something --- please let me know and I will check on it.

cowgirl... were you hungry on your last round at all? From what you're eating - the only things I see that could be an issue are the eggs or the cheese. When you do a protein day do you cut out all nuts, cheese and eggs?

I was not hungry on my last round at all. I have not had nuts on p3 yet. (too scared) and I do cut out the cheese on protein days. Since I ate eggs without issue until week 4 every day -- I didn't think eggs were an issue. But hey -- I'm willing to try anything. Today's steak day was strictly according to protocol but I've had about 5-6 steak days this P3 and never had to do one last round. ARGHH!

you might be able to do eggs, but 3 a day is a lot. i'd drop to having 2 of them 3-4 days a week, and have something else for breakfast on the other days. you're also eating a lot of beef, and it might just be that your calorie count is too high given your current weight. it takes fewer calories to maintain your weight now than it did at the end of R1. a normal size burger would be around 4 oz, so i wouldn't recommend going over 5 or 6. same thing for dinner- an 8-10oz steak is large. i'd cut back on the beef and have fish or seafood part of the time. did you mean to say a pound of strawberries? berries are a fairly common thing to be sensitive to, especially if you're eating them every day. you'll have a tendency to become sensitive to foods you eat a lot of, so i'd try to vary your meals more. i'd vary the veggies as well.

Thank you for the ideas! My mother is on this journey too and she brought up the dreaded "calorie" thing.....lower weight = more sensitivity to the calories. I'm going to try the suggestions...got nothing to lose. And my tendency is to eat the same things over and over....(as you can see). I'm going to try to cut back the calories a bit and try the variety.

you may also find that if you cut back on the fat and calories, that you're able to add in some starch- just be careful. but the first thing i'd recommend you do is cut back to a more normal serving size of meat (they say equivalent in size to a deck of cards which is about 4 oz), add a much greater variety (and amount) of veggies, and get rid of most of those eggs. :)

I don't count calories or cut back on my fats.... I know different things work for different people but for me calories in = calories out isn't one that works for me.

The paperwork I received from my doctor indicated more than doubling the protein(that means meat and eggs). The rules on hcg do not seem to be the same as on Old Diets That Didn't Work so I would probably throw out all those ODTDW ideas about restricting beef and eggs and fats and even calories to some extent. Dr. Simeon must have had a reason to recommend a steak day and that surely works. Sure, some restrictions must apply but each person has to find out what their own poison is and try to avoid or manage it. I agree with the idea of more variety both in meats and veggies simply because each item has its own contributions to make to your overall nutrition and not all meats are equal nor are all veggies. Because you are glucose intolerant, adding grain products would be counterproductive. Whatever carbs need to come from "good" veggies like sweet potatoes (baked & buttered no sugar added. Remember they feed animals corn to fatten them for slaughter. Take heart and experiment a bit. Texdobe

I just started the P3. I completed my first round, losing 28lbs. Yesterday I ate an egg beaters omelette with carb/sugar free cheese topped with pico de gallo and an apple for breakfast. Next I had a grilled chicken salad with tomato, cucumber, fat/carb free cheese topped with a little low-fat balsamic vinergarette dressing and some low fat cottage cheese. For dinner I had broiled chicken with pico de gallo, a salad with cucmber, tomato and fat/carb free cheese topped with a little low fat balsamic vinegarette dressing and an apple. I had a greek yogurt as a snack. Today I showed a gain of 1.8lbs. What am I doing wrong? Should I be worried? I even worked out for an hour.

It could be the cheese...but typically things that are "low fat" have hidden sugars. Look at the ingredients listings not just the nutritional labels. How much water are you drinking? Also, unless you typically exercise that could be the cause as well. Your muscles will store water to recover from your workout.
