Is it okay to eat ground turkey ( like the ones they sell at costco) in p2? tia

many people do fine with ground turkey if it's ground turkey breast only. if it's regular ground turkey it can have more fat than regular hamburger, because it has ground-up skin in it. yuk...

strictly speaking, it's not on protocol- but you could try it and see how you do.

Has to be the EXTRA lean because if you read on the package -- that is turkey breast ONLY. The LEAN has dark meat ground in there -- too much fat for P2.

I have been using ground turkey everyday and so has my mom, sister in law, and brother with no trouble, but I see some places that they suggest you don't use it. I am wondering why, one place says use 97% ground beef instead which I thought no beef was aloud on this diet. I would prefer beef but the ground turkey is okay. I get so frustrated when I see so many thing contradicting each other because then I don't know what to believe or if I am doing things right or not. I just want to make sure I do everything right so I can try and lose the maximum amount of weight I am suppose to (34 lbs) on this round.

At WalMart Super Center in KC, you can get lean ground turkey breast, seems like it's 97%. They also have something similar at Sam's now, too. I think as long as it's the breast ground, you're OK. But, like everything, what works for one does not for another! Ritzie, I think that is what you're seeing. Some people go "rogue" and they continue to lose; someone else tries it and they gain or stall. It's all just figuring out what works for you. If you read Dr. Simeon's "Pounds and Inches" - to the left here, bottom item in the column, he does allow beef. I eat grass-fed beef, even ground, which is 96% fat free, and do fine with it in P2.
