I've been looking to do a protein day and I've searched here for it but most are steak days and not high protein days. Could someone give me some good info on protein days? I've seen some people talk about an Egg day? How does that work?

    Thanks.

I have done one egg day (which worked well for me)
but altered the plan copied below

    ~My plan:
I coddled 8 eggs in the morning
then ate 2 of those eggs for breakfast
    while they were still warm
For the rest of the day
I snacked on the rest of the cooked eggs
and only got fancy (egg salad) in the mid-afternoon
    as a change of pace.

    Egg correction day
    (instead of a steak day)

gosh- i thought i posted this- apparently it didn't go through. here it is again, from linda. (lygirl)

An Egg Correction Day involves eating between 8-12 eggs throughout the day. You can have a daily total of 1-2 oz. of cheese, some sugarfree pickle relish, little bit of mustard, and a few TBSP. of mayo.,. sugarfree is best, but regular is ok.

    Plan:
For breakfast, make an omelet of 3 eggs with 1 oz of cheese.
For a mid morning snack, eat one hard boiled egg.
For lunch, make egg salad with hard boiled eggs and mayo and salt and pepper.
For mid-afternoon snack, eat another hard boiled egg.
For dinner, make either deviled eggs with more mayo, mustard, and the sf relish OR make another omelet w cheese.
Drink about 12 cups of water.
No fruit and no veggies whatsoever (except the relish).

minnesota- there is no "official" high protein day, egg day, etc., thus the confusion. The idea for a high-protein day came from a passage in the protocol where Dr. S. refers to people who try to continue the vlcd after stopping the hcg, and thus develop protein deficiency. here it is:

"Here too, the explanation is quite simple. During treatment the patient has been only just above the verge of protein deficiency and has had the advantage of protein being fed back into his system from the breakdown of fatty tissue. Once the treatment is over there is no more HCG in the body and this process no longer takes place. Unless an adequate amount of protein is eaten as soon as the treatment is over, protein deficiency is bound to develop, and this inevitably causes the marked retention of water known as hunger- edema.
The treatment is very simple. The patient is told to eat two eggs for breakfast and a huge steak for lunch and dinner followed by a large helping of cheese and to phone through the weight the next morning. When these instructions are followed a stunned voice is heard to report that two lbs. have vanished overnight, that the ankles are normal but that sleep was disturbed, owing to an extraordinary need to pass large quantities of water. The patient having learned this lesson usually has no further trouble."

because of this passage, someone figured that eating a lot of protein in one day might be helpful. but that's only the case where you are retaining water from too little protein. but since people also retain water for other reasons, the high protein does seem to act like a diuretic. plus some people feel it's easier to eat protein all day than to have to wait until dinner to eat, as with an official steak day.

so basically, you just eat protein all day- or add just a small amount of veggies to that. no fruit. i personally do not recommend anyone try an egg day, because SO many people are at least somewhat sensitive to eggs.

Because of the many differenc views, suggestions and what nots (different sites and posts) I keep my protien days simple so simple that i limit myself to just steak and tomato's through out the day...I tried a steak day where I only had one steak at night with a tomato and then i needed to do yet another steak day and it was suggested to do a protien day instead to my surprise I did much better on the all day protien then the one steak at night I have not ventured out on other protien ideas but im at a point now where it would be nice to do that...im so sick of steak now lol...
