I am not gluten intolerance, and I dont restrict my fats in P4 either. Though I am more conscience of what I eat and might sometimes choose to eat less sugar or starch. Perhaps that is why we maintian so well. Didnt go back to the same amount of sugar and starch, but I dont purposely avoid it either.
For example, I will choose water over any sugar drink with my meals. I also will have a smaller dessert than usual, but I still eat fat and or starch if I want to with my meal.
There is a balance to everything of course. But so many do try to keep their calories so low, because they have been taught they must. I dont find that it works with this protocol to do that.
Oh and by the way, Im not a very good 'clean' eater. But I do prefer whole foods over garbage, never did like to much junk in my diet.
ice- how old are you? how much over goal weight were you to start?
there are so many factors that contribute to people reacting differently. i think being younger helps, not having eaten much junk helps (that's what i mean by "clean"), how active you are, where you are thyroid-wise, hormonal, etc., etc.
most of my friends doing this now are in their 50's- and none been able to add significant sugar/starch back without gaining. i never drink anything but water with my meals, have not had juice in over a year. i never ate more than 1/2 or 1/3 of a desert while i was gone, never more than 1/2 of my serving of potatoes- and still gained a good 5# in those 2 weeks.
different people react different before hcg, during hcg, and after their round is done. some can eat quite a bit of sugar/starch without gaining, others can gain just by looking at it. it's unfortunate, and unfair, but true. personally i need to get past the "it's not fair" phase and just accept that this is going to be something i have to work at every day from here forward.
I am 42. Not active in the sense of excercise. Run two businesses on the internet, moderate a forum for investments, and homeschool, so am home alot and in front of a computer for long periods.
My thyroid is okay, but I am pre-menopausal moving into menopause (Now thats something not fair. Men dont have any of this stuff!)
Still not at goal weight. Needed to lose a total of about 65 lbs. Many of the women in our support group are in their 40-60's.
And yes, different people react different to hcg and food in general. Guess thats one of the reasons I am an original protocol advocate. The fewer variances, the easier to discover what may be a particular persons trouble area or what is affecting them. There are enough variables from person to person health wise and such without all the tweaking to the protocol too.
Perhaps, too many are trying to eat too many treats and not enough 'food' (Not saying you are :)) Just wondering.
i do think that's a big issue. i'm still amazed at what i find in some ingredients, even stuff that's labeled "natural", or organic. for example, many brands of organic peanut butter have sugar added, even though it's natural cane sugar.
i think even what your weight was in childhood or high school makes a difference, as opposed to people who gained weight after having kids or when menopause started. of my friends who are on it, those who gained their weight later in life are having an easier time keeping it off than those who were always heavy.
I agree with imlovelove....this is thread is very enlightening. I wish I could carry grammy, mgsondance, and caidan around with me all day like a security blanket. : )
