All I could find about drinking cold beverages in Trudeau's book is: beverages very cold slows metabolism and actually increases hunger. These should be limited or avoided altogether.
Asside from current research, liquids that are hot or cold within 1/2 hour of meals messes up the digestive system (plays with the digestive enzymes). If you must drink with meals - room temp only! I always have said ' I never drink with meals - only before and after'.
interesting fact! i had a naturopath tell me once that if it's cold, you burn more calories having your body warm it up. personally i can not drink a lot of cold water. the only way i can get in the amount i need is to drink it at room temp- much easier to chug it that way.
i've also read that it's better not to drink water with your meals- but i've never heard the bit about it being ok if it's room temp. thanks keith!
Yes, fact is the enzimes that process protein like normal body temps (go figure). If you consume beverages that are too hot or too cold they will effect the enzyme activity.
