I finished 40 days on P2 and got my metabolic rate test which was disappointingly low (registers below average). So I've been put on 1200 calories a day for P3, but the allowed list is so restrictive--almost as restrictive as the 500 calorie list. The dietician said these are low glycemic foods, so I'm hoping to find a fairly comprehensive list of LG foods I can print out (or possibly a good book, if needed). Any ideas?

Best idea is to fire your dietician. LOL You aren't restricted like that in the actual protocol. Just eat whatever you want that doesn't have sugar or starch. P3 is when the metabolism RESETS. It hasn't done it yet. If you restrict it, it will reset in that low state.

I certainly don't want to reset too low! I kept seeing where P3ers were adding avocado, dressing, etc., so it was really disappointing to get this lousy restrictive list for P3. The dietician seemed surprised at how low my met rate test came out.
I wish they had done the test before and after P2 (I told her that and she said it was to keep my costs down--they should have let me decide!). I know my metabolism was low before, but I'd hoped it would at least be normal afterward. I guess I'll try adding in some other low sugar/starch foods and keep stepping on the scale. Thanks, Colleen!

I'd follow Dr. S's recommendations and eat plenty of protein, add fats and watch the scales. If you go up, do a steak day and get stable. That's just nuts what she's recommending!

Low glycemic foods are exactly what Dr. S recommends for p3. The definition of a high glycemic food is a food that has a high amount of sugar or glucose in it. In p3 we are not supposed to eat any sugar or starch, hense, any food that is high glycemic.
You will be great. Add into your diet healthy fat (avocado, olive oil, nuts) and tons of fruits and veggies for fiber, (be careful of starchy veggies like corn, peas, potatoes, winter squash, and yams) and tons of protein. I bet you will be surprised to see that your daily intake won't go to far beyond 1200 a day anyway.

Here is a resource to learn more about low glycemic foods (which generally means a food with a value below 55) the high glycemic foods are mainly starches and sugars.

Best of luck. You will be great.

Oh it goes WAY above 1200 calories, nyc33! Just doubling the protein takes you close to a 1000. Add in cheeses and fats, etc and it soars. There is no need to count calories.

I know this is an old topic, but in addition to my weight/food tracker I created, I put together a list from the FDA with foods, carbs, fibers and net carbs. You can use it for reference or enter in what you ate during the day and it will pop up the information. Let me know if anyone wants it, email me at my username @ gmail dot com
