I didn't know for years I had a gluten intolerance. You can see as you add wheat if your weight spikes. That will tell you. :-)

Oh really wow well I've only had ezekiel bread so far so Ill try normal bread one day soon and see what happens,i could have had homemade bread yesterday at my daughters house but I still did not dare, she is pregnant and is always cooking something good because she craves alot:)
My brother quit eating bread a while ago and says he feels much better and he lost 10lbs. just from that alone, but he still eats flour tortillas and says those don't affect him at all...thats weird but you do what works I guess. He also lost alot of weight just by cutting out a few things and works out alot which is awesome if that works for you but it didn't for me.

Had a burger with half a bun and gained a lb. next morning;( that was half way through week 2 of p4...had ezekiel bread for breakfast that day, those were my only starches that day,so how long before I can do that without gaining? Have had a few(about 5-10) tortilla chips with salsa and a tiny bit of beans and that has been ok. I want to eat starches in small amounts...nothing like I used to cause I wanna eat more and not just starches as I used to but gotta have some.

susie, this early in p4, I would stick to just one starch per day. You had two in the same day and that might have done it. Try the bun again on a day you didn't have the bread. It may take you several tries to get your body to accept it. And margie is correct, you may also have a gluten sensitivity. Remember that regular buns have alot of simple sugar in them too. You might try a whole wheat bun instead.

Wow - this is all great information to read and have.

I never had to worry about my weight until I turned 30. I kept the same pants size I wore in high school (28" waist), and ate anything I wanted. Then the weight started to creep on, and when my other half told me my 34" pants would have to go to 36", I said absolutely not and I dieted - hard. I managed to get back to 29" pants by diet and riding my bike 10 miles a day, but I couldn't keep it up and the weight came back. For the last two years, I've been hanging on by watching absolutely everything I eat, and just accepting that every time we went out to a restaurant, I'd gain half a pound or a pound, and it wouldn't come off. This sounds like I won't have to do that, that I'll be able to eat normal food in normal amounts and, as long as I don't overdo it, I can maintain. I was resigned to being on a diet for the rest of my life.

Yes I had a wheat bun... thanks for the insight kats and margie, I guess I'm just ready to get a bit more normal in my life again although I know it's not gonna be like before but I'm still having a hard time sometimes getting in the protein cause I just don't want meat that often;( i eat and peanut butter usually for breakfast and almonds for a snack but I know I need the protein to keep the weight down. Well I'll do a high protein day again today cause I went up a little today so I need to get a little off again;( TOM also close;(

susiered...unfortunately this protocol does not fix the tom water gain :((. I can still count on at least 2 pounds each month from that little visitor, but it does come right back off again.

Right Kats I just meant maybe its because of TOM that the weight is there but I will do the high protein anyway just incase its not TOM s fault ;) I had eaten really well last week and lost about 1.5 but it just comes back again so I guess thats what my body wants is go up and down about 2-3 lbs., which is fine if thats where I can keep it.

Susie, i am about 3 pounds above LIW from the end of July. TOM takes me up to 5 pounds over, but I drop right back to 3 pounds over. I am happy with that...I am just under 50 pounds gone since I started this. i may do another short round in January to lose those last vanity pounds. Listen to your body, which you seem to be doing. It gets less stressful with time. As the weeks go by and I maintain at this weight, I feel better and better. :))
