Ready2bthin - 0.4 over your LDW isn't bad at all!! I have been 3-1/2 lbs over my LDW already since I started P3 about 10 days ago and I have managed to get back to my LDW today. The important thing about P3 seems to be that you add the various dairies, eggs, etc back into your daily intake at a slow rate so you can figure out what makes you gain, retain, lose, etc. and then use this to your benefit to make good choices goin forward. Also, some hams have sugar in them, don't they? I have stayed away from ham entirely because of this and the high sodium. Also, don't freak out and trust the process! I wasn't a believer of the "steak day" until I found myself about 3-1/2 lbs over my LDW and I ate nothing all day and then had a 1.37 lb steak and apple for dinner and I dropped 3 lbs the next morning!! Trust the process and listen to some of these other people on here as I have found that mgsondance, grammy and others will give you some great advice and never steer you wrong! Stay focused and trust the process! It has been proven to work well if we stick with it!!
It is normal to gain weight at the beginning of P3. This is my second time doing P3, and each time I have gained at the beginning, and then leveled out. I try to avoid really salty things like ham and bacon, and I go very easy on the nuts. If you have a health food store close by, see if they have unsalted macadamia nuts. They are really good, and not as high in carbs as a lot of other nuts. I only eat a few per day at the beginning of P3. I avoid anything that says "sugar free". Too many people have trouble with sugar free products. To me the sugar free cookies and similar items just feed the temptation to eat processed junk food, which is something we should be trying to wean ourselves away from. Cheese doesn't bother me, but it seems to cause problems with other people. Eggs are not a problem for me either. For meat I eat turkey sausage, turkey burger, fish, lean pork chops, roast beef, chicken, etc. For snacks I eat no more than 2 apples per day, and I often have pork rinds and sour cream to satisfy the munchies. I'm a big fan of cauliflower and broccoli, so they are my staple veggies, and cucumbers come next.
Just stay heavy on the protein for a few weeks and your weight should stabilize.
I can vouch for the "sugar-free" issues! They really messed up my weight for a few days when I had "sugar-free" jello or "sugar-free" ice cream from Braums! I will NOT have anything else that says "sugar-free" until P3 is over, and I might choose to take it out of my diet from here on! It seems to be a bad thing, in fact, I had a doctor tell me once that he would prefer that I ate a small amount of regular ice cream (with sugar in it) then to have "sugar-free" ice cream, and other things.
Glad I am not the only one to have sugar free desserts as my enemy. Mug cake doesn't seem to have the same effect, as well as the coconut oil chocolate does not affect my weight. But sugar free ice cream, gain guaranteed!
