Yes, I am very fortunate to have them, especially with kaiser healt insurance!

New2- I am thinking it wasn't the best plan, but I will have to wait and see.

I was on a pretty low dose.

varkie, I did this when I wasn't on hcg. I got tired of taking the meds. Actually ran out and didn't have insurance at the time, so I quit taking my synthroid. My whole body got outta wack. I had so many weird and crazy symptoms that I couldn't figure out what the heck was wrong with me. Finally, doctor put me back on meds and I got back to feeling normal. I think stopping the meds actually started my whole problem with the weight gain and messed up my whole metabolism. I soooo would not recommend it, HCG or NO HCG.

I hear ya, its not usually a good thing to just stop any med.

I'm not recomending it to anyone.

I also started iodine which should help.

I stopped taking mine on the first two rounds and then I took it during my last long round and I think it made a difference in how I felt and how I lost, it was much better with the thyroid.
I went and had a body scan done about two years ago and the doctor then said my thyroid was basically dead. He said it's much smaller than it should be and looks like it hasn't worked in a long time. I was really hoping this diet would change that, but I'm not sure how to find out if it has or not. But I would like to get on the natural thyroid instead of the synthyroid that I'm taking now.

You'd feel way better on the natural! :-)

What should I ask my doctor for?

You might have to get a compounded version for now. They are reformulating Armour and Naturthroid isn't available again yet either. I tried to get my husband's Armour from Walgreen's and was just told about that today. I get mine from a compounding pharmacy. Ask for dessicated thyroid.

I dropped my thyroid medicine too the day I started my HCG round. My understanding it that hypothalamus controls secretions of other glands also including thyroid. How will it adjust itself if we keep on giving it the thyroid harmone through oral pills. It will re-adjust itself believeing there is so much hormone already existing in the body. I want to give my body a chance to start producing the hormone on its own.

I was encouraged to do it since this is what Dr S's protocol recommend. He would not have said what he said unless it was tried and tested. And it makes so much sense ...at least to me.
