For some of us, making small tweaks here and there don't actually have to do with wether we want to cheat or are bored. Some people either started out very in tune to their bodies or have become that way over a life of experience. In my case, the alterations I'm thinking of making on round two are drawn from spending a long time reading up (years and years) on various issues I have or have had and also paying attention to the way I function.

I did the first P2 round fairly close to protocol. I think a few times I had a tablespoon of green onions along side the main veggie as a garnish (which maybe could be considered mixing veggies). I also was using the braggs liquid aminos in soups and as part of dressings or sauces from the gourmet cookbooks. But we never decided to eat a bigger portion, have sugar, more carbs than the bread sticks etc on P2. But I did notice some things didn't seem to work for me well. I never lost well after eating fish or shrimp, and oranges didn't seem to work very well either. So this round, I'm not going to cook with the braggs to see what happens. Nor am I going to eat too many oranges, and I'm not interested in cooking any fish. (I think the fish issue may actually be a sensitivity related to the trace amounts of mercury that appear in much of the available seafood. I had huge issues with metal accumulation and toxicity before, so I may still be sensitive to those trace amounts, even after being vigorously detoxed for more than a year by my doctor.)

The only really big tweak I want to try this time around is having the cocoa bark a few times. Again, I have a specific reason based on what I've observed my body doing... I observed every time in P3 and P4 I had something like coconut oil or coconut milk, I snapped back to 203.2, which was right below my last drop weight. So I want to see if it will work on P2 to help me get a little larger loss. If it seems not to help, you can be sure I'll quit.

But we each are different, and I think it's a good thing to be able to pay attention to your own body and work through your own issues. If more people were really hands on about their health and got to really know the 'skin they are in', I think there would be a lot fewer ill people in this world. I think it's definitely a good idea to do the pure protocol at least once though, so you can actually see what you body will do with it the way it was designed after all Dr. S.'s testing.

    Sooooo back to being rogue...................

Ok so I made the "spinach chips" not bad, but I think maybe I put a little to much coconut oil on them! They were a little to rich, but made a great healthy snack :)
Ok for dinnner I had baked chicken & asparagus soup & my chicken was a little more than 3.5 oz! I also added about 2-1/2 heaping tablespoons of cottage cheese to my plate. Then for dessert I had 2 nice pieces of cococrack with my strawberries :o) I didn't have my other fruit or my breadsticks today. After reviewing my food log & daily weigh in last round I have seen what I seems to make me lose a little better & believe it or not eggs & cottage cheese!! Oranges seem to slow me down (not stall just slow) but I have also had 4 cups of coffee today & 124 oz of water today! Some of my teas last round also slowed me down especially when I made them into ice tea & added stevia. So now I only drink my flavored teas every few nights a week.

The family was having bbq ribs & chicken, augratin potatos..............ugh I wanted to just have some so bad, but I held my ground. The real kicker was the brownies & ice cream for dessert :( I was so tempted but this means to much to me & I don't feel that is part of being "rogue" that would just be more of a cheat!! But I will add more allowed items into my meals & I did try the coconut oil & we will see if the scale still shows a loss tomorrow as it did the first day I tried the cocoacrack. I gave it a day in between to see. I'm going to listen to my body this round more than last round. I do eat the allowed bread because I believe there is a good reason Dr. S has us eat a small portion of the starch during protocol. It is a small amount, but I believe it helps us as we transition between phases. For everything I went through during P3 & P4 & having to eat what was available at the hospital & what my SIL cooked when I was at her house, I did a pretty good job stabalizing & a 3 lb gain for all of P3 & P4 given my circumstances is pretty acceptable to me. I ate a lot of hospital scrambled eggs, cottage cheese & salad during P3 trying to stay as close to protocol as possible. But I didn't know how their eggs were cooked or if there was sugar in their salad dressing & you would think a hospital would offer more sugar free food geeez

So my point being, I firmly believe in following protocol to a T during your first round as you learn to know what affects your body, but I have to agree this diet was written years & years ago & much has changed since then. I am not one to just go off on my own on this & try to rearrange everything Dr. S says, but I do agree in tweaking things just a bit to see if it helps. I won't go out & eat things I know are a definite no no, but I will add a little extra protein ect. to my meals.

Tee, that milk shake does sound really good!!! Did you eat that as a meal or just as an extra treat??

Elaine - I for one am glad that you made this thread so I can feel free to bare all if I feel like it :o)

This round for me was a blessing & I want to make the most of it & lose as much as possible we are all here for the same reasons & sharing our knowledge is beneficial to each & every one of us. I have learned a lot from all of you!!

Lucky, that is good to know, thank you. I would never do an apple day. I'd have to go to the ER to be revived from my coma.

Margie, you always bring up such good points. I think it's important to remember that people are inclined to go rogue when the protocol isn't working for them. You're not supposed to be hungry. Well, what if you are???

Also, doing subq is rogue! It's not in P&I from what i remember.

Well just to let you all know when I do my next round I am going to be having the egg white protein shakes.....that feels so bad to say that lol
As I know fish and chicken are going to make me feel like being sick, it might work or it might make me lose a lot slower but we will see.

No judging is good and being honest is even better so this thread is good to have.
I agree if you are doing this for the first time do it right and dont do rogue but we all have to do what is right for each of us.

My first and second rounds I never cheated or went off protocol but I will my next and only with the shakes, I hope and pray I still lose as well but if it is a bit slower I have to except that as my doing and I have to be happy with that.

Good luck to all of us which ever way we do this diet.

    Nats :)

Well here's my report for results from Round 2 VLCD 1... lost 3.4 pounds!

We had 3% beef hamburger patties for lunch (hubby had radishes, I had cucumbers as veggies.) We both ate both of our bread sticks between meals. We had chicken soup with celery for supper. I had strawberries about 9pm and cocoa crack about 10pm (which is the reason my report is on the rogue thread!)

I did however, get a splitting headache as soon as I had the cocoa crack that still is not completely abated this morning. Today I will do without it and see how my losses are tomorrow. So it looks to me like it might have helped, as my round one per day losses were never that good for any day including day one, but I'm not sure the headache was worth it. Hubby had a mild headache all day and I had been fine with no headache at all till the cocoa crack was consumed. I had about 1/2 a tablespoon.

whoa - emmaglow - so does a p2 steak day work the same as a p3 steak day??

Even though i have to admit i am just NOT hungry at all today and even drinking my water is killing me today. but i KNOW i gotta get this water down and at least eat my protein. . . . . The weekends always 'get' me. My mom had a fam dinner last night and we went. i must say, the one bad thing i did was eat salsa and 10 chips and a tbsp of mashed potatoes w/ gravy. mmmmmm. . . ... . anyways still down this morn. hopefully won't show up at all but will keep an eye out for in themorn. good luck all.

I don't know if this is considered a "cheat", but I have been using "Truvia" (vs. Stevia drops) and Mrs. Dash seasonings since Day 1, and have lost 17 pounds over ten days on the VLCD (Day 12 of 26-day protocol).

Ok, I am confessing. I went beyond rouge yesterday. I don't know what got into me. I'm sure I will pay for it in the next few days.
I was going to do a steak day. Which I did but I also added some peanut butter, which I ate like it was the fruit of life. I also had 3 diet sodas and 3 bowls of cheese/carmel corn. Don't ask why. I don't know I wasn't hungry. I just felt like I needed it.
It is freakishly cold here in Florida so my planets must be all messed up. (SMILE)
So the good news is that I was down 0.2 pounds. We shall see what the next few days bring. I only have 8 VLCDs left. Thank goodness. I don't know if I could make it through a full 40 day round.
Please don't use me as an example. I was very very bad and fully thought to gain more than a pound today.
