I am wondering what the story is with bacon on phase 3. Trader joes has nitrate free bacon, but they all seem to have some sugar even though the grams of sugar say 0. Any suggestions? I know I have read here that some of us are getting sugar free bacon. Is that necessary? If so where do we get it?

I also found sugar free at Walmart-great value brand low sodium. But it has nitrates in it and I'm not thrilled about that.

I just buy reg. bacon. It hasn't caused any problems yet. I ate it all during p3 last time and it was fine. I've just started p3 again and I'm not having any trouble.

Thanks! I get so scared reading all of the ups and downs people are having but I guess its like anything else - go with what Dr Simeons says and eat well and if there is any trouble - steak day. I will get the trader joes bacon and give it a try later in the first week and see what happens. Thanks everyone!!

Most Bacons are cured with some sugar. Wal-mart has a brand "Gwaltney" that has no sugar added. Cooks really thin, but hey it's safe bacon!!!

Interesting article on nitrates. I was trying to find sugar free and nitrate free, but now am not so concerned with nitrates.
