Andrew - Skinny is right about the veggies. Just so you are clear on what the term "no mixing of veggies" means on this protocol:

In P2, if you have spinach as your one allowed veggie for lunch, the onions are a second veggie and are not allowed in that meal. Same for dinner. Choose either the cabbage or the onion, but not both.

Having said this, I also know that in the beginning, you'll probably see pretty good losses. However, when your weight starts to stall and you wonder why, the combining of veggies may be one of the reasons.

Andrew, Yes I think the chicken does dry out some.
I would do enough for two days at a time, I sprinkle mine in seasoning and seasalt to make it taste good.
For me chicken has saved me, just having that chicken in the fridge, that I could eat a little extra protein, I owe part of my success on this protocol to Mr. Chicken!

Andrew -- I also want to caution about protein powders. They are not on the protocol and some people can't do them.
It sounds like you are doing fine for your first day! I would suggest that you figure on losing .75-1lb on average a day. That way you don't get discouraged when your numbers start to slow down! Also remember that your body needs time to catch up when you lose, so if you hit a stall don't give up! You might see a three day stall weighing the exact same (or with in .2 of the weight) but you should notice a good number when you come out of the stall!

I burned my fish on the GF also. I think maybe cause mine is a few years old? The grill, not the fish. Anyway, had to scrape it off and it tasted a bit like a fish stick with it being kinda minced and all. Tossed it and decided to broil instead. Chicken is great on it for me though. I've heard some say that dried minced onion would be a spice and could be added to your veggies.....just a thought and not nearly the same flavor.

Okay....after an incredible 20 hour workday....Here I am. Smiling and laughing at all the humor. I am ready to forge ahead for another day. Now I got on the scale and weighed myself and I am not ready to claim progress yet. I weighed myself after loading and then again yesterday morning for VLCD1 and today for VLCD2 I am back to my weight before I preloaded. I am hoping to see huge dividends tomorrow (or any), but after just one day it's hard to forecast any successes. I read through all your comments and can see we have some real high quality chef's out there, just like me. I never thought about my burned fish too much yesterday, but yes! It did taste like fish jerkey. When I plated my fish and sat down to eat it, I realized...I don't get any tartar sauce with this! What a bummer that was. What do you mean I cant mix onion into my veggies. I am an onion and garlic-aholic. Afterall...If I have to have some flavor. I will take it under advisement that I shouldn't mix the two vegtables (onion/cabbage or onion/spinach), but I think of onion and garlic more as a spice than a vegtable. So how did everyone else do yesterday??? I hope well! I have to shower up and head back to work for another exciting day and I will try to get back on tonight.
    Later LOSERS! *andrew

Oh I meant to ask about the chicken broth. Can I get away with using Swanson's Chicken Broth? It has no MSG and looks pretty clean of all the bad mojo.

Most have evaporated cane sugar in them. So read labels carefully. It is possible to find ones that don't.
