I think that if you have been exercising in the past, before the diet its ok. But since you are taking in so few calories you have to listen to when you body says enough, and not push it harder. Also, when I worked out on this diet, I always gained the next day because of water weight. But I like running when I'm stressed so it wasn't something I was going to give up because I gained a pound the next day. Its your choice, just be very careful!

Personally, I normally exercise and when I hit a plateau for 4 days - rather than a apple day, I increased my workouts and changed the routine - that blasted through the plateau and Ive been losing ever since (22.4 on day 15). I cant imagine that exercise is harmful - but to each, his own. Best of luck!

whatever exercise you body was doing before the diet is ok to continue, so if you were already working out, or have a physical job, you can still do those things.

Yeah my doc said if I have already been working out then working out if fine as long as your body thinks so. I have an eliptical sitting that I dont use because I cant do more than 15 mins on it and thats after a couple weeks of using it a little at a time. I typically do bootcamp workouts. So during P2 I am just going to start using the elliptical 5 mins a day then add a couple more and work myself up so by the time I get to P3 I will be able to do a good workout on it.

Do you stay with the 500 calories when you do lifting days? I am a fitness instructor and teach a weight lifting class (Body Pump for those who know that class). Just curious if i should be having more protein on those days or just stick to the 500. I am only on my 4th VLCD day, and i teach that type of class tomorrow. The cardio classes i seem to be okay with the 500, this will be my first time with adding the weights to the mix!

I have to wonder though... if you are burning 200-300 calories in a workout, doesn't that leave you with almost nothing? Is that healthy?

that is partly why i was asking. i assume i still have enough in my body that the HCG is taking as far as nutrients. I did add an extra protein (cottage cheese) and i still lost and was able to make it through (light weight). Don't know about tomorrow though..As good as i feel mentally i can feel a toll on my body. I have much less energy. So tomorrow definitely steak (100 cal steak!)and tomatoes for dinner with strawberries an hour before class!

I take Barbell classes (1 hour) 2X weekly) and Spin classes (1 hour 1-2x weekly) and I haven't since I started because I'm afraid I'll burn up all my "fuel". I'm also worried because I take morning classes, only time I can, and with no breakfast, I might just pass out, lol.

I'm only on VLCD2. I did lose 4.5 lbs since yesterday morning. Yeah me!
