I am about 10 days out from entering phase 3 and I read that you need to eat about 2,000 calories so you don't reset you hypothalamus gland too low. The more I think about it, the harder it seems to consume 2,000 calories not eating starch and sugar. How about dairy, is that ok back in phase 3?

Oh it's so easy. LOL Dairy is high in fat and calories. Avocados are high. I eat them daily. Nuts. Bigger portions of meat and fattier cuts. My mug cake. Eggs. It's not too hard to do. :-)

You can have fat, which is very high in calories...9 per gram. Dairy is fine, it has natural sugar. Just stick with plain stuff. Greek yogurt is great!

I don't think you necessarily MUST eat 2,000 calories though. You should take a look at a calorie calculator and eat what's appropriate for your weight/age/height and activity level to maintain. I probably am eating 1,300 or so on most days, with occasional days a bit over, and I've been rock-stable the entire P3. I'm fine with that. I never ate 2,000 calories per day in my entire adult life, and don't plan on it now.

Yes there is no set calorie amount you have to hit. I eat 2-2500 a day myself in P3. I'm probably closer to 1800 in P4. but you don't have to count calories. I sometimes check just out of curiosity.

LOL! It's a different mindset, that's for sure. :-) I still eat leaner cuts of meat because that's what I like. Fish, chicken. Some steak. I love avocados though. And olive oil and coconut oil. Nuts. Good stuff!

American cuts of beef are all marbeled with a lot of fat. If you eat ground chuck or rib-eye steaks, you are getting a lot of fat. I also do Smucker's Natural Peanut Butter (no added sugar, just 2 g. natural sugar) on my apple slices. I love cheeses and of course nuts and eggs. Believe me, you can get in the fat. It is hard to get away from the "low fat" doctrine we have all been slaves to all our lives. I have learned that this is totally different and totally works. Good luck!

lol @ deanna. you can do it. i especially love skirt steak. very fatty but very tender and juicy. great flavor. i love making a hot sauce out of jalapeƱos, cilantro, olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper in the blender and i put it on my steak.

another thing that can pack on the calories is latte's. get it half and half or creamer.

definitely grammy's mug cake. cant wait to try that.

    olive oil is great too.

man, im so ready for p3!
