Directions and Instruction Guidelines

Most Hcg diet drops will have similar instructions.  However, since each brand is created with different ingredients and through a different process, it is important to read and follow the Hcg Diet Drops directions that came with your particular brand.  For research purposes, we have included general instructions that should work for most sublingual Hcg drops.

Hcg Diet Drops Directions: Dosage

Each brand has their own level of potency and dosage recommendations are typically based on this.  For prescription Hcg, the drops will be based on an actual dosage amount (ie. 250 iu’s for example) of Hcg based on absorption and other variables.  Homeopathic drops will be based on homeopathy practices and is based on the ingredient’s  “frequency.”  This is why it is important to follow the brand’s specific Hcg Diet drops directions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many drops should I take?

The number of drops taken can vary by brand. Most homeopathic drops suggest 10 drops, while prescription drops are not taken according to the number of drops, but by the actual amount.  A specific dropper is included with these drops, where it is filled to the prescribed amount and the full amount is taken from there. Prescription Hcg is typically only taken once per day, while homeopathic Hcg is taken multiple times a day.

Do you take Hcg drops during the loading phase?

Yes, the Hcg diet protocol begins by taking Hcg hormone during Phase 1, the loading phase. This phase is approximately 2 days, and requires the Hcg drops to be taken for each day.

What Foods can I eat while taking Hcg Diet Drops?

The Hcg Diet includes a surprisingly long list of clean, whole foods. The Hcg Diet allowed foods list includes lean meats of beef, chicken and fish as well as a long list of nutrient dense vegetables and select fruits and grains. The calorie allowance begins at 500 calories for the original protocol, however modern variations (known as alternative Hcg Diet protocols) average 800 calories to 1600 calories, with increased food allowances and slower loss rates. You can read more about this on the Hcg food list page linked at the beginning of this paragraph.

When to take Hcg Diet Drops during the day?

Prescription Drops are typically taken in the morning, while Homeopathic Hcg drops are taken well before each meal time. Each brand can vary in their instructions for taking Hcg drops however, so it is important to follow those specific directions.

Hcg Diet Drop side effects?

There are no known side effects when taking REAL Hcg drops and taking them correctly.  However, the FDA does not endorse homeopathic Hcg, and particularly does not recommend hormone free diet drops due to the large number complaints and side effects associated with these specifically.  Read more about Hcg Diet Side Effects here.

Side effects with HCG hormone (human chorionic gonadotropin)

Hcg hormone used for the Hcg diet is considered safe to take by the FDA. For decades, Hcg has been used in significantly larger dosages for fertility and hormone therapy, including in adolescents, without serious side effects.

Do Hcg Drops cause cancer?

Research has never shown that Hcg injections for weight loss, can cause cancer.  For individuals who have a history of cancer, particularly ovarian or gynecological cancer, the Hcg diet is not recommended for them. This is because these types of cancer can cause the body to produce increased amounts of their own natural Hcg already. To avoid complications, the Hcg Diet is not approved for these individuals.

How long do you take Hcg hormone drops?

Hcg drops are taken on the first loading day and are completed at the end of the 26 day weight loss phase.  This is considered an Hcg Diet “round.”  The original protocol calls for a normal round of 26 days, while a “long round” can be up to 40 days.  According to Dr. Simeons, the weight loss phase must not exceed 40 days.  Phase 3 consists of a 3 week break, known as the “transition” or “stabilization” phase, and is followed for 3 weeks before another round can begin.  Read more about the Hcg Diet phases.

Understanding Hcg Brand differences:

An example of real prescription Hcg diet drops is Nu Image Medical drops.  The drops from Nu Image contain 200iu per daily dosage and contain 0 alcohol as real prescription hCG will NOT have alcohol.  Note however, that some homeopathic Hcg diet drops may contain alcohol as a preservative.  As an example, when you receive your HCG diet drops, from Nu Image you won’t have to test it as it’s from a real doctor, but you can always get a test strip or pregnancy test and test your hCG for your own piece of mind.

There is a third type of drops, known as “hormone free” or fake Hcg drops. These tend to be nothing more than amino acids and alcohol preservative.  These are fine as vitamin supplements in some cases, however they should NOT be used with the original Hcg Diet Protocol.
