I thought I blew it....

Rate this Entry
Yesterday I was on track until I got hit with a curve ball. I love how kids tell you at the last minute about an event at school.

Long story short, my son was in a talent show and didn't tell me until 1:30 pm that the show was at 5:30 pm. Ahhhhhh.....

I managed to get off early but the show took way longer than expected. I nornally have dinner between 7:00 - 7:30 because I don't eat after 8:00 pm. The show was over around 8:45 and we didn't leave until after 9:00pm.

Well... we ended up at In & Out Burger - which is on our way home - (OMG - I know) and I was STARVING. As I stood in line, I kept repeating - Protein style with mustard (no spread), grilled onions, no fries and water.... but when it was my turn I went into automatic and blurted out - "No. 2, well done, with grilled onions".

The conversation in my head went a little like this: WHAT! NOOOOO - plain burger with mustard, wrapped in lettuce. NOT a cheeseburger on a bun with Fries and a drink. You just blew it!

By then it was too late to change the order because I already paid and there was a line behind me.

I got my food and stared at it.... I was too hungry to give it away so I ate the burger and the fries [with ketsup] and a little Dr. Pepper to wash it down. It was so good but then panic set in. I haven't had a burger in 3 months.

Now the conversation in my head turned into: "I can't believe you did that. You were doing good today and you end the day with a burger and fries after 9:00 pm. You are going to bed at 10 - with all that food sitting in your stomach. You are going to gain. Today was a waste. Don't even get on the scale tomorrow."

Well, I made some tea and went to bed. As I dreaded getting on the scale this morning, I did anyway and I LOST 1.8 lbs. WHAT?

Next time, I will carry a piece of fruit with me to help with the temptation. If I had eaten an apple, I would have ordered the burger the way I planned it in my head or ate something when I got home. I'm glad I didn't gain but I might not be so lucky next time.

Lesson learned: I got by this time but the mental conversations are not worth falling off the wagon.

Don't cheat... it is not worth it.

I am very lucky. It helps to blog about what's going on to get it out there and move on. I'm normally really shy so you won't ever see me do a vlog on YouTube but blogging is helping. Sometimes I refer to my previous blogs and the comments to keep me moving forward towards my goal. I have 3.3 to lose before I reach my first 20 lb loss. I hope to get there by the weekend, but if not, I'll still keep it moving.

Sorry about your night from hell. Hope the Apple day helps you recover. I've never done an apple day. I did an egg day and lost 2.2 lbs. the next day. I'm sure that's a no-no on P2, but it worked for me. Good luck.
