P3 Felt Awesome Yesterday, Today (day 4) Not so Much!

Rate this Entry
Ok, bad news. Weighed in this 4th day of p3 at 1.6 lb. over last dose weight! Geez, another .4 lb. gain and I should be doing a steak day. In reality I've never done a proper steak day, usually just high protein days.

Trying to figure out why the gain. It could be one of three things:

1) It could've been all those almonds from the day before yesterday. They were roasted in sea salt, very salty, and had way too many. Way too many, and way too soon. So yesterday I nixed the almonds. Could have been a delayed gain from that huge introduction to almonds! Not the right thing to do, I just went a little crazy.

2) Then, for dinner last night I fixed (recipe on food **** site of hcg forum threads) some zucchini oven roasted fries. They are dipped in egg, flaxseed meal, and sprinkled with parmesan cheese (which I purchased from Whole Foods, so shouldn't have starch in it). It may have triggered the gain. Though I added flaxseed to my p3 almost immediately after my first round with no problem. Maybe the parmesan sprinkled on?

2) And lastly, I purchased these treats called Gelatin Bites at Kroger. They are basically sugar free gelatin, no carb, no sugars, but made with aspertame, I believe. I know aspertame is a no-no. Does it cause some people to gain, though? I thought it would be ok, but maybe it isn't. I'm tossing those today.

I failed to include in those possibilities the introduction of Fage Total yogurt, sweetened with xylitol. Could that be it? Need to get feedback, or look info on xylitol usage.

Whatever the cause, back to mostly protein today, no almonds, and either no flaxseed or no Fage. Haven't decided that one yet. They say to add one food at a time, and there's a reason for that. Duh! My bad, I guess I deserved what I got. Omg, it was good though.

Today:

Breakfast: Burger cookies. (2)

Lunch: Either another burger cookie, or my baked chicken.

Dinner: Either the other burger cookie (if not lunch) or maybe some grilled fish.

Meal plan for today is not totally determined, as you can see. What I'm not having is gel bites, or almonds!

Have to get off to go shop a little. I really have to find a few things that aren't so big to wear. Just a little at a time. Hope tomorrow weigh-in will be better.

Sorry to hear that Dubbs. I think your right about the almonds.. unfortunately nuts seem to be something to add later for alot of people. They are pretty much my fav food so i feel your pain! I think you are on the right track witht the high protien day! Those are fun sometimes! I'm sure you will be right back on track after today!

Seems to be the same here. I'll wait for the nuts until at least week 2. Never had a problem with them before though. Doing a protein day myself today to see how it goes tomorrow. We're in it together!

Dubbs, I do the almonds and early in P3. But..... I get the plain raw ones and bag them up into bags of 20 for 140 calories. Sometimes I just eat a few, sometimes the whole bag but I do practice portion control. Also..... Did you have 2 yogurts or just one. If it was 2 it could be 1 too many. High protein is a good plan for you. don't worry about 'meal times' though. eat when you are hungry. stop when you are full. You'll knock it right back down. AND make sure you are drinking your water!. No salt if you can do that today.

Now that you mention it, I think it could be the parmesan cheese if it was pre-grated...because they say in these threads somewhere that you should buy it in blocks (cheese) and grate it yourself since they use carbs to keep it from sticking together when it's pre-grated...although I would bet its the salt and maybe just lots of food in your belly I'm so jealous!

Man our body's are fickle. I hate being a slave to these UPS and downs. I guess we have to deal with it to learn how to and what to eat but it is frustrating. Tomorrow will be a better day. I have to ask when you are on P3 is there a certain calorie number you go by or do you just eat within reason and do like th book says and do not have any starches or sugars?

Dubbs - you'll do great! I have learned so much from you that I am sure you are going to ROCK those lbs down to your LDW! ) I made the English Muffins today and I'm thinking I missed a step, haha they look AWFUL. Also, just made the parm. crackers and they do not taste great, although I do like the hummus that I dipped it in. I guess I have to remember that the weight loss is more important than the dumb crackers. Good luck with your high protein day! You'll do great!

Oh wait - the parm. cheese crackers I made.... I figured out why the are not so great. I made 2 batches and as I was making realized I did not have enough cheese. Ok - I feel better. I'll just have to mask the taste with the hummus. Ha.

Jami, you cook like me.Thanks girls for all the support, I'll do ok. Have to say, I just got back from shopping, and picked up several pairs of size 8, took them to the dressing room, thinking no way will these fit, they look too little. And 2 pair of the 4 were too large! I needed that bit of encouragement today. I've had nothing but protein so far today. It should be ok. We have to have faith in the process, right? O, and Feisty, I just had 1 of the Greek yogurts. I figured 2 would be an awful lot of calories. Yummy though, haven't had any today, though. Not any almonds either. Will keep everyone posted tomorrow. Fingers crossed. For everyone! Hugs and thanks to all of you.

Hi Dubbs! I am having a hard time keeping up with my posting lately, but I posted in the big eaters thread also. I think you are going to be fine. It was probably the salt from the almonds and also our bodies are not used to all this food, so there will be fluctuations! I know for myself, my biggest challenge in P3 is drinking enough water. I do fine in P2 but somehow with P3 I don't emphasize it enough. Try that today as well.

And yeah for the shopping and having those 8s be too big. I love it when that happens. I am wearing some jeans today that do feel a tad looser than the last time I wore them so that makes me verrrrrry happy! Hang in there sweetie- I know you will be fine!!!!!

Joanie, don't worry, I know you are busy with school and all. I plan to keep up with the big eaters thread, as well, so we can always stay in touch there. Glad to know you're a big eater like me, we'll be big eater buddies!

Congrats on the too big size 8s! i bet it was the salt from the almonds, i always eat raw unsalted, not nearly as tasty though. the fage might be the culprit also, seems some people are having trouble with fage. you are still in the zone though so wouldn't worry too much. good luck on your protein day!

Gains can be frustrating but remember to look at the overall picture. I bet it was the salt on the almonds too. Have you ever tried roasting them yourself with spices like cinnamon and little sweetner. Oh And I have been eating sugar free jello through out p2 with no problem so I doubt it was that. Dubbles you are very kind and your progress is amazing. Don't let a little gain get ya down sister.
