I'm on the Highway to Health!

P3D3 check in

Morning all, so it looks like I'm going through the normal weight fluctuations of P3. This is pretty typical. P4 is when we should expect things to settle. I was up 1.4 today to 128.5 lbs, which puts me 1.4 under my LIW. I've lost some of that wiggle room, but I did a longer than usual walk yesterday (4 hilly miles), which was awesome, but afterwards we did a trip to Costco, IKEA and Central Market. Yeah LOTS of walking. My lower back actually hurt by the end of the day, which never happens, so I might have some inflammation going on. Surprisingly I haven't been eliminating very well. Strange because I'm eating plenty of fats, tons of of fiber and never have issues in that department. My menu may not look like I'm getting a whole lot of calories, but believe me, everything is made with a healthy dose of fat.

Here's what yesterday looked like:

B: Green juice, 2 big cups BP coffee
S: Grapefruit
L: 2 chicken legs, 1/2 HB egg, salad with EVOO dressing
S: Green juice with mixed berries
D: Chicken thigh, 1/2 chicken breast with skin/bone, broccoli with butter
S: Cocoa crack with berries

I made homemade mayo yesterday ... I don't even like mayo, but homemade is a whole different story. I then took half of it and made curry mayo and used it in homemade chicken salad that we'll eat today with lettuce wraps. Today is a gym day and I'll probably do 30 mins on the glider followed by the steam room - my favorite part of my "workout" and what really gets me to the gym.

    I'm cold this morning and a steamy steam room sounds divine. Cocoa crack with berries sounds so intersting. Who dreams up these recipes and ideas? Amazing!

    Morning Marv....I noticed your chosing chicken thighs. is that just a personal choice of darker meat? I always eat breast..hubby likes darker so he gets the thighs and legs..is it because the thigh has a some healthy fats in it? Enjoy the steam!

    Great Job... I have to start doing some work-outs.. my house is being painted and I am a few days away from them finishing it and getting my house back together. I know I could walk out side but today it s just to cold. I am so ready to try Cocoa crack.. but I will wait a few more weeks

    Hi Marv! Your still rocking this out!!! AWESOME!!! I read that more than 2lbs either way from LIW can cause problems during stabilization so you are right on, right on!!! Thank you for posting your p3 menu! It's really helpful for me to see since I haven't done a p3 yet! Your accomplishments are out of this world and I hope I have the same success as you!!! Did you find any new goodies while out shopping? Have a great day!!!

    Rabo, I just add whatever ingredients to my cocoa crack that I think could work. I've had some flops but it's fun to experiment. I mostly stick to add-ins that will give the chocolate interesting taste & texture. Nuts, shredded coconut and frozen berries are my favorites. Instant coffee is another good add-in and so is mint flavoring. I made some last night that I added crumbled bacon to. I'm looking forward to dessert tonight.

    Pooks, I still eat chicken breast because I do like it, but in maintenance I eat more dark meat for the healthy fats. I also like to get skin and bone-on cuts over boneless/skinless. Meat with bone has a lot of health benefits. It also makes really good broth and tends to be more tender & juicy than boneless/skinless, plus it's a lot cheaper. It's a win-win for me.

    Shelli, you're right, we don't want to dip too far below LIW either. The point of P3 is to stabilize within the -2/+2 range. I bought some super cute heart shaped and fish shaped silicon molds to make cocoa crack in! They were only 99 cents each at Ikea. I love to turn the ordinary into extraordinary. It's the little things that make me smile.

    Green Drink

    2 cups greens (baby spinach, baby kale or a mix of the two)
    1/4 peeled cucumber
    1/4 apple with skin
    1/4 orange with a little skin left on (too much is too tangy for me)
    A few slices of fresh ginger
    About a 1/2 c. water
    4-5 ice cubes
    Kal stevia powder to taste

    Mix in bullet for about 20 seconds.

    I try to buy organic produce as much as possible and I prefer to leave the skin on, unless it's not organic. Over the weekend I experimented with frozen berries and cranberries. I liked the way the drinks came out, but have found I prefer a "greener" drink, if that makes sense.

    Later this week I plan to add avocado to my drinks which will give them a creamy texture. I'll eventually add nuts and flax seed to them in P3. In P4 I'll start making drinks with starchier/sweeter things like carrots, beets, canned pumpkin, bananas and other tropical fruits. I guess I'm lucky because I do well with fruits in my diet. I asked my holistic doctor if I need to worry about the fructose in fruit and he just advised me to eat 3 servings of veggies for every 1 serving of fruit each day. I can do that!
