I did the HCG diet in April 2011, shortly after losing my baby (I was 4 months). It was a really hard time for my husband and I. I was having MUCH difficulty with people coming up to me, grabbing my belly and asking how our baby was....they didn't know we had lost it. I wanted to lose my belly and FAST! I did great, lost 15 pounds, but then slowly gained about 7 pounds of it back due to NOT caring what I was eating, cause I was still really depressed. I had a diskectomy on my lower back in August 2010 and have now re-ruptured my back and my doctor wants to do another disketomy AND a fusion. I thought that if I try to lose more weight it might help, plus I want to be comfortable in my body - I have gained a lot of weight since I got married 3 years ago.
So here is some help to anyone who is just getting started. I bought my drops from my local health food store. The owner had an hour long consultation with me and gave me tons of papers explaining everything and a food log.

I had my 2 load days, ate anything I wanted
LD1: 188.4
LD2: 186.0 ??? you got me - but I'll take it!! I did gain .4 after LD2

I live in Wyoming so, the red meat I am eating is a deer my nephew killed = no preservatives. Last time I didn't eat any red meat and I am losing more this time than last time. I have not drank yet, but I do plan to drink on the 9th, it is my work Christmas party. I plan to have Vodka Soda - little calories. I drink those anyway, so it won't be a hard thing to do.
For portion control I was told to look at your hand, palm up. Take away fingers and thumb and cut the size of your palm in half - that should be your portion size for meat.
A few lifesavers are "Spry" gum, and stevia drops!
I am on my VLCD D6 and have lost a total of 8.6 pounds and am finally out of the 180's! My goal is 20 pounds.
How are all of you doing?!

So sorry for your loss, nothing sounds quite "right" to say when something like that happens and my heart breaks for your loss. Thank you so much for sharing your meals and experience. I am on R1 VLCD D2 and it is going well so far....-9 lbs lost which seems unreal but it is huge motivation for me so I will take it! I still have a long way to go so always appreciate hearing from someone who has walked that portion of the walk Wishing you much success and looking forward to hearing any advice you might have along the way.

Sorry for you loss and each day does get better.

Lauren0128 - I saw the most losses when I stick with fish and cabbage, chicken and romaine lettuce. I don't buy the pre-packaged kind because it goes bad too fast. I buy the "hearts of romaine" and use one stalk as my serving. Sometimes I use cabbage as my "lettuce" for a salad. I invested in a good salad spinner [which I LOVE]. I try to have a salad every day for one of my meals. I just crumble my protein on top. I make my own lemon/vinegarette dressing using the standard recipe you can find on Food Network except I use MCT oil instead of olive oil. I haven't had any issues with using MCT oil on P2. I use no more than 1 1/2 tbs. It really is good.

To save time during the week and to keep from cooking every night, I bake or boil my chicken and bake my fish on Sunday then I pre-measeure 80g of protein and freeze them for the future. You only need 46 pre-measured pks of protein for a 23 day round. If you do as much food prep as you can in the beginning, you will be less likely to cheat.

    I hope this information helps.
