Where does our fat go?

Rate this Entry
When we lose fat, where does it go? Do we pee it out? Does it melt into thin air?

I guess I could google this, but maybe someone here has the scoop.

Hi Ladies! Okay, I'll bite. I think that the body converts fat to energy which is absorbed by different organs in the body. I believe fat store is converted and is "burned" as fuel for the body and after conversion is released several different ways (i.e., sweat, urine, etc. etc.). When we exercise, the body uses up immediate sources of energy first and then once that's used, if it needs more it burns fat stores. That's why (without being on HCG), exercise (especially cardio) and creating a caloric deficit and eating specific percentages of nutrients work together to help us lose weight.

WHOSE THE NERD?! I AM.... but I don't know if that's A+ accurate...I'm pretty sure darn close though..

That sounds like what I've heard before, lil one. I don't know if my brain is working as well as it usually does on these low calories.

I guess it's hard for me to visualize the fat just "burning" up. I was envisioning the ugly fat and that it needed to melt and go somewhere... but, I think you are correct. Ding, ding, ding - you win the prize, shellibelli - and the prize is a cute little figure!

This process occurs through a series of chemical reactions in the rankdle mitochondria, the energy-producing organelles within cells.
