I have a new Best Friend and her name is Tape Measure

OK so I have done this before. Diet - watch the scale - Lose; stop diet - don't watch the scale - Gain. Rinse, repeat.

This time I did something different. Instead of depending on the scale I took the advice of every single diet program I have ever seen and took measurements on Day 1 of VLCD and also pictures. The plan is to do this every two weeks. They were both pretty awful. I was not thrilled with either the numbers or the image.

However, This morning was the 2 week mark and I dreaded the tape measure like I have the scale for much of my life.

SURPRISE!
There is a reason the original program was called pounds AND inches. For my measly little 10.6 pound loss I was awarded with 25 inches shaved off this fluffy body. I had a co-worker helping measure and made her repeat several as I could not believe it. Seriously - 3 inches off my waist. How can that be right? 2 inches off the hips, abdomen - crazy.

So - no matter where you are in the program - get out that tape measure. Take a picture - or two. One face forward, one to the side: Your weight loss mug shots

Get ALL the measurements. Bust, chest, waist, abdomen, hip, high thigh, low thigh, above the knee, below the knee, calf, arms. I put mine in a spreadsheet and added up all the numbers. I really got me excited, if you can't tell, and gave me new energy to face the next 4 weeks.

So - this is me - not proud of where I started, not happy to be where I am at, but thrilled with how the journey is progressing so far.
