20 pounds or less to lose?

    Hi Everyone

I would like to start a new thread for people losing 20 or less pounds, like myself. I am postmenopausal and in R2,P2,D8 and having some trouble staying on protocol. I have gone rogue a bit this weekend (2 1/2 glasses of wine), in addition to my normal rogueishness -mixing veggies, eating more veggies than strictly allowed. I did well in R1 before last Thanksgiving, losing 17 pounds in a 30 day round. But I may have started this round too early as I am not feeling very motivated. I am hoping for a little support and think a new group might be just the thing.

    Anyone in my boat?

Hi there sminxy, I have 10-15 more to lose. I'll be starting a round in a couple of weeks to do it. I do the injections. This will be my first time of mixing on my own, my other rounds were all pre-mixed syringes supplied by my doctor.

Also post menopausal, and I would love to finally get rid of the midriff padding that is part of that story. I did get close to goal in my 5th round, but after a disastrous P3 could not keep the results. I regained about 20 pounds. A 6th 30-day round got me down about 11 pounds. So this is my big push to finally get there. If I can lose the whole 15 in a 30 day round, thats what I'll do, but I ordered enough to do a full round if needed.

I'm highly motivated, because I'm trying to get off a med I've developed an allergy to, and getting to my weight goal is the only way to not need it anymore. I always stay right on program because I want every ounce of weight loss I can squeeze out of my investment.

So yeah, I'll cheer you on. You're only a week in, so have plenty of time to regroup and commit for the rest of your round. I say, just suck it up and DO IT. Its only for a couple weeks, and then you can move on to stuff thats currently forbidden.

    Hi Leez!

Thanks for the words of encouragement - I really needed them. I think part of the problem this weekend is I didn't bring either scale with me, so have felt off the entire time. I will do my best to recommit.

I know exactly what you mean by the midriff padding - after menopause I gained weight in the weirdest places, like my underarms and shoulders- yuck! Losing 17 pounds my first round got rid of most of that, thankfully (although I gained back 7 pounds). I am in the same situation as you are - I did my first round with premixed syringes from a doctor and now am mixing my own, from Nu Image. Seems ok, but I am still fiddling with my dosage (150 right now, but I think I need to adjust down a bit). I'll be curious to see if we need to have less HCG as we get closer to our goal.

You said you stay right on program - do you mix veggies at all? I have done that from the start, but wonder if my losses would be better if I didn't. Not sure what the consensus is on that.

    OK, onward and downward!

I know it... in fact, even though I was huge and uncomfortable, the thing that drove me to desperate measures and being willing to inject myself, was something that had never happened to me before with weight gain. I would always just pad up all over, but basically be my same shape only bigger. This last time I was over 200, all of a sudden (and I mean literally over a day or two), I developed a double chin that I could feel, a "fat "necklace" at the base of my neck, and a hanging flap right at the bikini line. What the heck? I mean I could feel these protrusions when I walked or moved my head. I was horrified. I remember standing at the mirror and saying out loud, "O my Gawd---that is HORRIBLE!" Thankfully, the weight loss got rid of them.

It seems some do need less HCG as we go. All through my first 5 rounds, I had no idea what my dose even was. I didn't really care because I had no hunger and lost averagely. When I found in R-6 that I had to adjust because of hunger, my doctor told me it was 165. I adjusted down to 130, and then again to 110 at the end.

This time, I'm going to start at 125iu and see how that does for me.

Yes, POP to me means no mixing veggies, no foods that are not on the original protocol list. The closest I come to off protocol or mixing is that I put a bit of cayenne & onion powder in the cajun spice blend I use to season all my meats and veggies, and sprinkle some onion powder in my soups that I make with water. I don't even use broth.

Some people seem to get away with mixing veggies. I've not ever tried it.

Oh my God, Leez, you crack me up... the fat necklace! I know, it is a nasty trick that gets played on us. I was the same as you, I would gain everywhere till menopause. I had tried everything, low carb and Jenny Craig, etc, and I was unable to lose and I actually kept gaining since I passed through menopause, so HCG has been a blessing for me. I finally feel I can has some control over this.

I think I will try a slightly lower dose tomorrow. I still have a little hunger. I am also curious - as you got close to your goal, did you keep losing at a good pace, like in your other rounds, or was it quite slow-going? I have enough HCG to do a 42 day round, and am only on day 8, but I wonder how long it will take me to get to goal. And, maybe I should try to get below goal so I have a little room to bounce up in P3 or P4...?

The good news is that I just got home and weighed myself and I still am 2 pounds less than I was on Saturday morning, so that's a win!

Now if I can just figure out how to eat out with my family tonight, all will be good.

Have you done a skip day to test your dose? Just changing it here and there and hoping for the best is going to just use up your time when you could be targeting and get it right quickly.

Formula is: if hunger goes away after 4pm on skip day, your dose is too high
If hunger gets worse after 4pm on skip day, your does is too low.

My losses by week last round (30 days)
    8.2 (includes 4# load gain)
    3.8.
    2.2
    1.8
    .4 (last couple of days)

On long rounds I averaged about 2 pounds per week the last 3 weeks. You can see that it was about the same for me even on the shorter round. My best round was the first: 23 pounds. The 5th round was 17pounds. The middles ones were all right around 20.

When I eat out on P2, which isn't often, I would get a shrimp cocktail and sliced tomato. I'd ask for fresh lemon to go with it instead of the sauce. Most restaurants can manage that and you know the shrimp is plain and hasn't had stuff added to it. I think that is about the safest restaurant choice. Every other protein is very likely marinated in something off-plan.

I've also managed living in hotels when necessary on P2 by using tinned chicken with pop-up tops and some raw veggies, apples and oranges, and just go back to my room to eat. Its not gourmet, but it works.

I haven't done a skip day, and may if I have problems, but I had a really good day so far today. Also, it turns out I lost over three pounds over the weekend, making 9 pounds this first week, so I am thrilled. I am now down to my last 10 and I imagine it will slow down quite a bit. I did ok out to dinner - a salad with grilled chicken on top, which I didn't finish. I will try a shrimp cocktail next time - good idea!

Oh I forgot - we took our grandchildren to the movies and I succumbed to what is my favorite food - popcorn! I ordered their junior bag and it was bliss. I've got my fingers crossed that I don't stall tomorrow.

I started the last round under a doctor's care and on way too high a dose - 200IU. It was only through this board that I was able to figure out how to do HCG right, but by that time I was already mixing veggies and occasionally having eggs. SO I kept that part up, stayed below 500 cal, and for me, a bit of roguishness didn't seem to stop my losses. We'll see if that continues.

How are you doing sminxy? It's been a couple weeks since you posted.

I'm just getting started now on my round.
