Thread: Alcohol during P3???

    Thanks for all the information on this thread. I have been wondering about this for awhile. I knew that beer was out of the question, which is my most favorite thing to drink craft beer. I am quite proud of myself for not having any issues with it. I know of some parties coming up and have been looking forward to a drink for quite awhile. Tomorrow I will be officially in P3 after VLCD/no drops. I cannot wait to have a vodka/soda water (I like tonic but have seen that is a no no).

    Again, I really appreciate all the information you guys have posted. Here's hoping to no weight gain!

    I just started P2 on Tuesday and last night my hubby and I caved and had wine. I was sooo afraid to weigh as i didn't want to sabatoge my weight loss. Luckily for me I lost .8 #
    woohoo! Like Shellie sometimes I need my drink! But having read the posts I probably should swith to vodka. Thanks for the posts!

    BTW-Could any of you post your typical day menu?
    I usually have coffee, then an apple for breakfast
    L-fish or chicken/veggie (usually just grilled)
    D-same
    I love salad but the sugar free dressings are awful. Any suggestions?

    I was using red wine vinegar in p2. you can sweeten it a bit with stevia if you'd like. ACV (apple cider vinegar) and lemon I think is another people use often. Get creative with spices too.

    My daily menu is similar, but I try to make sure I don't eat the same meat twice in a day. Probably just a personal preference than anything. I'd die if I ate the same thing every day. Look for recipes on here to shake things up. Again, spices are KEY to keeping things exciting in p2.

    And hooray on the wine and drop! The clear liquors would prob be safer, but I do know several folks that drank wine in p2 and did fine. Its just all about taking that leap and seeing how your bod reacts.

    If I remember the protocol correctly, he has a paragraph on alcohol and does not actually prohibit it. He just says that most people dont feel the need to drink it when their on the diet... but does not say much else.
    I weight myself once a week. Im in the middle of P2 right now.
    Down about 20 lbs ish

    oh! i am sooo glad i read this because i am really miss not having my vodka once in a while! LOL I am on day 31 and there were just a few days where a cocktail would have been just what i needed but i was afraid of cheating.
    i am not sure how i will like vodka with mineral water or spirits or whatever the suggestion was but i will try it!

    Some lime or lemon with the vodka and soda water might be good. Some folks have flavored Stevia that they add to the drinks. You might be able to get away with a splash of cranberry or orange juice. Make sure to do a Google search on flavored vodkas. I personally am leery of them and stay away, being you never know what they use to flavor the vodka-- so Google that if you're in the market for flavored booze.

    I was told to wait 3 weeks into phase 3 before having any alcohol.
    Lost the first 18 by upping my activity and in Phase 1. Lets see what happens in P2!!!!

    Sounds like someones personal opinion/rule. I drink even in P2

    Not sure why some are saying clear is ok while dark or colored isn't. Spirits are alcohol that for the most part fermented from grain, fruit, sugar, etc.... and distilled - with the exception of Rum - which is made from molasses then distilled. Alcohol is the result of yeast eating the sugars from a wash and is the waste product from that process (fermentation). With such things as Whiskey, Bourbon, Scotch - they all come out CLEAR right after being distilled and only turn color after being aged in charred oak barrels... which shouldn't and doesn't change the caloric value of it. This is info I have got from my friend who operates a micro distillery.

    I don't plan on drinking while on p2 but if I do, it will be a 12 yr old Scotch and maybe some plain old water.

    Alcohol is harmful for health because it destroy your liver that refresh the body blood. Thats y alcohol is not allowed in p3 also its is not allowed in every moment of life but you may drink in parties or ceremony.

    If you really want to get down to it, any food that isn't in its natural organic state is a poison that destroys your liver-- NOT just alcohol. The liver processes more than just alcohol. People who have never drank are getting cirrhosis of the liver and guess what-- they are getting it from all the processed carbs/sugar/soda pops/junk junk junk. So yes, alcohol registers in our bodies as a toxin, but so does any food that you don't pluck off a vine in an organic garden and eat right there. Sucks for sure.
