    Juicing veg/fruit

    Hi Everyone!

I'm new to the forum and new to hcg. Just started my rx drops today and am so excited.

My question- I got braces put on Friday and am really struggling to eat anything at all crunchy. Does anyone know if I could juice my fruits and veggies? For example, have apple/cucumber or apple/spinach juice?

    Thanks

You need to eat the whole fruit. You need the fiber in it, since food volumne is so low on this plan. You can blend up the whole food and then drink the sludge. But the sugars are absorbed more quickly when in a liquid form, so even with blending the whole fruit, it makes sense to sip it slowly rather than chug it. That way, your system won't be hit by a big sugar rush all at once.

I was worried about the sugar hit from juicing. Thanks for the response!

I'd either make a smoothie from the whole fruit/veg or else make a pureed soup. You could dice and cook an apple and make applesauce. Or make a spinach/strawberry smoothie. Or cook asparagus in water with some herbs until soft then puree it for "cream" of asparagus soup. I wonder if a cucumber/strawberry smoothie would be any good?

Good ideas! A spinach and strawberry smoothie sounds good. My 1st vlcd is tomorrow, so I'll let you know how it goes.

Also hoping these braces stop hurting so darn much!

Just an update in case anyone was interested-

I made apple and cucumber smoothies with a little ginger and lemon in my food processor. It was quite thick, so I added a lot of water. The smoothie turned out pretty yummy.

I also tried strawberry/spinach, apple/celery, and strawberry cucumber. I enjoyed them all!

Fortunately, eating with braces has become easier, so I can chew again. Yay!
