    Mixing veggies

Hi I am new here. The protocol says no mixing veggies but in the phase recipies I see all over the place it takes about recipies with tomato and onion. So are those two okay?

The only vegetable mixing I would do would be lettuces, red cabbage, & spinach leaves - in bagged salad, mixed with one of the following - Radish, cucumber, tomato in a salad bowl.

If you consider that onions are both a vegetable and a spice (onion powder), then that is probably where that belief comes from. Onion powder could be included in the "etc." in the list of spices given.

I would interpret that as it is safe to use a sprinkling of onion flakes or a bit of onion powder in a tomato recipe rather than something that combines good amounts of both onions and tomatoes at the same meal.

A lot of people have created a lot of recipes that don't follow the original protocol. You can choose to use them or not. It's not okay to mix those, according to Dr. Simeons, but it's your body, your diet and your decision on how rogue you want to be and how much risk you want to take with the protocol. In the past, I sometimes read about people skipping their fruit and eating a tomato as the fruit while eating another vegetable choice. I wouldn't try it, but some have.

Good point Jmmrr. That is another reason I've read also that some think tomatos and onions (or any other allowed vegetable) can be combined on P2. I agree that considering a tomato a fruit is not condoned by the protocol, as tomatos are included in the vegetable list, not the fruit list.

The info in this topic is pretty much it.

The upshot: Don't mix vegetables. If you decide to try it, realize you are experimenting on yourself.
