Question What's the deal with Broth

    Hello all

I've seen a few posts and Google searches where people are making soups. Is broth ok to have when doing p2.

And if so can it brought from the supermarket rather than making it.

    Thanks,

It's very difficult to find on protocol store bought broth. The only one I've found is the Kirkland Organic one at Costco. Most normal supermarket brands have sugar or starch in them. You still have to count the calories too.

I use Goya powdered Chicken Bouillon --zero calories, fat, carb and protein. it does have 240 mg of sodium but I haven't stalled from it. I use it alot!

Pacific Bone Broth or Sipping Broth is fantastic! I don't care for the chicken one, but the turkey version is great!

35 calories and 9 grams of protein. That's it! Low in sodium too and I believe organic. I just heat it up and add some seasoning and sip away

There are a few varieties of Swanson low sodium broths and stocks in cartons whose ingredients only contain meat and vegetable juices and no sugars or starches. I use them every day in P2 and my losses aren't affected at all. Just make sure you read the labels before buying them What's the deal with Broth

This is a very old post. LOL I doubt the original poster is here. You have to be careful with broth as I mentioned. and I would never recommend one that had 35 calories. That's way too many to stick to protocol.

I also use Pacific bone broth! It is great. Such a life-saver. The regular Pacific broth also has 9 grams of protein and only 25 calories. Its really amazing stuff. I reccommend it to everyone on this diet.

As a side note, I would double check with your doctor or nutritionist before adding it as a staple. I have been using it, limiting myself to one serving or less a day and have seen no stalls in weight loss.

Bone broth is excellent for general health...but as Grammy said, I would be careful using it on P2. For P3 and beyond, definitely consider incorporating it. Just be very careful with store bought varieties. I recently started using Kettle and Fire broth. It's from grass fed beef and is paleo friendly. Not cheap, but worth it.

That is true, this is my first round. I am still learning new stuff everyday. I have cut the broth down to half a serving per day. I use it for cooking.

Thank you for all the advice, this site is amazing.
