    My Hcg Diet Cheat Experience

So, this week, I tested with a few different items that are not on the list of approved foods for Phase 2. I was soooooo careful with portions and still avoided sugar. This was a seriously "controlled" cheat... that still cost me 5 days in losses! So, while I didn't gain from the 2 cheat experiments, it still cost me several pounds in what I would have lost. Needless to say, even a "careful cheat" is still a big fat no in my book- just not worth it.

Another thing I learned in my cheat.... it brought back week 1's cravings. All of a sudden, it was like starting over again, with sugar and carb cravings. Yesterday, I finally took an appetite suppressant to make it easier and today I'm feeling back on the right path.

I will add these to my Hcg journey blog, but these are the foods I tried....

    - A few pieces of sushi with salmon, avocado, little rice, and nori.
    - Diet soda with aspartame (yuck.) Even flushing this with water afterward... I still stalled. I'm already an anti-aspartame person, so I really wasn't surprised to find that this stalled me on two separate days.
    - Fat free whipped cream with my strawberries (hubby meant to buy sugar free. Lucky me, I had a pleasant reminder to REAL ALL LABELS before putting something into my mouth during phase 2!

Foods I have tested that haven't made me stall....
    - Zucchini
    - Green Beans (I think I would have lost more without these, but I did still lose)
    - St. Croix flavored sparkling water
    - 3 whole eggs instead of 2 egg whites and 1 whole egg (I'm such the rebel!)
    - Ground turkey

I had planned on testing more, but to be honest, I'm not pleased that this has cost me nearly a week in losses. I think I will be saving most of my "testing" for my next round now.

I was so tempted to cheat tonight... it was just one of those days, ending with getting a call from Mom that my beloved Yorkie passed away. He was on loan to my father, who has Alzehimers, and it just as heartbreaking to him, as to me. I honestly wanted to have a glass of wine with a side of guacamole (that's comfort food right?) but so far, I've stuck to tea. Sigh....

I'm so sorry you've had a crappy week. Losing a pet is awful and I completely understand wanting to console yourself with wine and guacamole. And for me, I would add a dessert. :/

I wanted to let you know my cheat experience...I started the HCG OP on a weekend and lost five pounds the first week, which is good for me. I knew that I had a bachelorette party that next weekend, but thought I could manage it and get back on track. I tried to eat close to P3, but then they brought out giant a cornbread cupcake with cream cheese frosting and I caved. Completely. So then instead of keeping my cheat to an hour, I proceed to drink all.the.drinks. It took me six days of POP to get back to where I was, and then another three days to lose one more pound. It sucked so bad. I've been really good on plan almost all the days other than the cheat. And, I know you don't have to be in ketosis during the HCG protocol, but I usually am and it took me a week to get back into it. I can't eat the breadsticks because they are a total trigger for me, so I cut them out. Altogether I am down 7.6 pounds in basically 22 days, which is a slightly lower average than my last round... and in my last round I was not POP very much.

Omg, your share just made my day- I am cracking up over here!

I have to say, I have never heard of cornbread cupcakes before, but if they were in front of me, I would absolutely have to try it! So... note to self: call ahead to any and all parties, and ask if cornbread cupcakes are on the menu lol.

Actually, I take the easy way out when it comes to parties, and take an appetite suppressant beforehand. I know it's not necessary, but it seriously helps to not have the willpower battle. That said, I have only used them a few times this round, and most of the time, I've been good with the Hcg suppressing my appetite enough on its own. I'm just starting week 3, and I'm down 11 pounds. Not bad at all, considering I had that 4 day stall after the cheat.

Today, the site kept going down and I was hustling with Patrick (our developer) to get things back up. Needless to say, it was a stressful day, and I was so tempted to break and have a martini! I didn't though... I just kept thinking, "tomorrow, you will be one step closer to your goal, if you DON'T have that cocktail." I think I also heard Leez in my head, going, "don't do it!" She's such a great invisible cheerleader

Yep, that was me in your head.

Those cheats...just not worth it. Jmom said it well:

I'm so sorry about your dog.

I do like reading about the results of others' experiments. I've had zucchini once on hcg and it didn't stall me. Maybe I should add that regularly. I've also eaten two whole eggs and done well, but my body has some strange love of eggs and eating them always benefits me.

I think the biggest issue for me in a cheat is the mental aspect. During P2, I'm so focused on following everything perfectly, if I even let myself have a tiny bit of freedom (shirataki noodles, for example), I lose that mental focus and start craving everything in sight.

And I suspect it is best if I am never in the same room as cupcakes when trying to lose weight. I don't have a lot of self control when faced with temptation.

Thank you for the kind words

You know, the psychological factor is the biggest reason I recommend limiting a cheat to 1 hour. (Hcg Diet Cheat Fix) The sooner you can take steps in the right direction, the better it is for your mental and emotional focus. The real magic is in the *progress* of the diet, moreso than anything. When you are making progress, it's so much easier- even exciting- and it pushes you forward to reach your goal. When we sidestep that, it's just so easy to stay off track and for me, the kiss of death has always been, "oh well, today is blown so I'll eat what I want and start over tomorrow...." Detrimental on my mental state and so hard to get back on track, if at all. Instead, the "one hour limit" and immediate steps to correct the situation, actually puts me in that progress state again and I'm good to go.

Self talk is so important, and your method really underscores that.

You can talk yourself out of success, or you can support success with positive decisions and affirming self-talk. I do it out loud, because in the in the scripture we are told that Death and life are in the power of the tongue… (Proverbs 18:21). That tells me its not just a mental exercise. So I try to wag my tongue in the direction of life--that is, whenever I am aware of the opportunity. I think it takes an act of will to stay in the moment.

    Hi Jenya,

Thank you for your posts on cheating - I really appreciate knowing I am not alone in this struggle. Similar to you, all of a sudden my cravings are back big time - sugar & carbs and last night I had a handful of M&M's. Compared to my previous behaviour, having 12-15 M&M's doesn't count, but here it does. I'm trying not to beat myself up over it - especially after seeing the weight gain on the scale this morning. That said, I'm still craving today and I'm not entirely sure why. I imagine it is emotional and it will continue the more weight I lose. I'm down almost 18 pounds and while one part of me loves it, I think another part of me is getting scared and will lead me to self sabotage. Has anybody else dealt with this?

Thanks in advance to anybody who reads...

    Kimberly
