I'm scared I won't ever be able to make it through a round without cheating :(

Hey, everyone. I've been reading these forums for a while but I just decided to make my own account. I started HCG on 10/15. I lasted two weeks before I cheated—well, I was switching drops, and I figured I'd need another load day. I started up again, and now I'm on day 10. In total, I've gone from 219.2 to 197.6 as of this morning. I don't see much of a change, but people around me seem to :/ i feel like I look exactly the same. I don't get it...but anyway, I cheated on November 1st. I had a pizza. That's the only thing I cheated with. I think I gained around .6, which thankfully wasn't too had. I just cheated again with a pizza. I feel SO pathetic. I'm proud of the weight I lost, but I'm scared that I won't ever be able to stabilize or make it through at LEAST 23 days without cheating. I tried to tell myself that I could make it to Thanksgiving without cheating...but i feel like a complete failure because I did anyway. The worst part of the cheat is that I contemplated it for about ten minutes before I did it, but it obviously didn't stop me from eating. I think I'm a food addict.

Did I completely ruin everything? Will I not be able to stabilize anymore? I want to cry right now, but...I feel like I've been doing HCG FOREVER, but in reality, it's been less than a month!
And please, don't give me lectures on how much of a failure I am.

Also, how much do you think I'll gain from this? The first time I ate only a pizza, and it was less than a pound. When I switched drops, I had two more load days and gained TEN POUNDS. Another question: when do I stop losing water weight and lose real fat? i don't understand water weight at all.

Wow! Are you kidding me? No one here is going to lecture you on being a "failure." You have lost over 20 pounds! That's success, not failure!

I can't guess how much cheats will set you back. I can only remind you to avoid cheating. Try to think about it this way... You know what pizza tastes like. You don't need to taste it now. You can wait a few weeks to taste it again. Talk yourself out of it by focusing on something else. There are so many posts where people are immediately upset with themselves for cheating. Try to remember how unhappy the cheating makes you and tell yourself it's not worth it.

You may not notice your own weight loss so much, but one day soon you will look in the mirror and think, "Holy #@*&!" It will suddenly hit you. Once that happens, I think you'll feel even more motivated not to cheat.

You are already losing fat! The deal with the water is... When the fat is released from your cells, it is sometimes replaced by water. Then the cells release the water. Dr. S. explains this process in Pounds and Inches when talking about stalls.

Cheer up and stay on track! You're doing well. Don't give up on yourself!

Wow for a minute I thought this was something I posted. I feel exactly the same as you. I have failed at all 4 or 5 attempts. Hopefully my motivation right now is the new pants I bought because if I gain any weight they will not fit comfortably. My co-workers have once again noticed that I have lost weight and after my losing and then gaining I don't want to keep looking like a fool. I am sure everyone is saying she will gain it right back again but I don't want that to be the case this time. Hang in there you can do it and so can I.

You need to figure out what is triggering you to cheat.

Is it a lack of discipline? It's three weeks, is that the issue you can't wait for?

Is it emotional pressure? Everyone around you is eating all the donuts and pizza and thinking you are anti-social if you don't?

Is it cravings? Gotta have the salt, sugar, carbs? All the stuff to feed my brain chemistry-- serotonin, dopamine, etc

Is it stress? Need for comfort? I deserve a break today <-- see above chemistry stuff

Honest scientific feedback: Are you willing to accept that maybe you cannot tolerate wheat/gluten/sugar without disastrous results on the scales and it means another kind of food choice?

Great advice for you here but note for the future--you do not reload in the middle of a round. The only thing that would make someone reload is if you found out you were on bogus drops altogether and basically were starting from scratch.

Well, I hope your feeling better now. Sometimes cheating happens. You have to move past it. Itsy, pointed out some great things that you may want to think about (cheating for comfort, out of stress, in social situations). This way you can be prepared, in case you find yourself in a challenging position again, and think about cheating.

I remind myself that a cheat can set you back three days and it's just not worth it. Also, I think over and over WHY I am doing this. I have a goal that I am determined to succeed at. When tempted I remind myself of that goal, over and over and over again. I actually visualize my goal weight, in my mind.

The mind will go where you direct it. If you entertain thoughts about cheating; then soon enough more of those thoughts will follow. All of a sudden you find yourself with food in hand. So, if they creep up again, quickly shift your focus to something else.

But, don't sweat it. We are HUMAN. You'll do great.

P.S. - Take pictures of yourself and measure! So that you can see the difference. 20lbs is alot.

So they weren't homeopathic but only amino drops? The fact you gained 10 pounds on a load in the middle says either those drops were good or else you were eating something you are VERY sensitive to.

If you gorged on drops that were good, you would gain dramatically. But these were actually fake drops. So whatever you ate on those gorge days caused massive inflammation. Make sure you don't ever eat it again.

    Loved your response, itsybitsy!

Huge congrats on the loss, watercress, and the other responses here are so true... don't beat yourself up. We're human! Mistakes happen!

It sounds like pizza is a huge trigger for you (I have to change the channel when commercials for stuffed crust pizza come on because that's a huge love of mine). Try your darndest to stay away from pizza during P2 and P3 (and eat the heck out of pizza on P1 during your next round, if you do another round).

I'm at the end of P2 and realized a few days ago that I just cannot handle the temptation of melba toasts so gave them away and have cut them out of my meals. I cheated twice with melba toasts (ate more than my 2 per day) and both times gained, and the guilt was overwhelming. Both times were during my TOM and it was like I couldn't control myself, but not having them around and not eating them with my meals has gotten them out of my mind quite a bit.

So much of the trial of this diet is mental. I think it's good character building, though.

@Liz - Wow, upon reading this, I am thinking, hmm I DO like pizza, and all these other things that are bad for us... And I just didn't feel like as soon as P3 starts that I should start digging into all of these horrible foods that I do miss sometimes...

Then you said load up on your next load day. Whew... I am excited for that. I am taking drops, how long is appropriate to be on p3 before starting another round?

    Round I - 2013 - 197.8 (after load) ~ (Start 12/31/12)
    Week 1 Losses (1/8/13): 187.8 (Loss 10lbs)

    Week 4 Losses (1/29/13):
