Yes please keep us informed. I usually use coconut oil in my hair and argan oil to condition my hair and don't want to stop. I read on one of the threads on this forum that 'you have to pick and choose your battles'. I do plan to not use certain moisturizers and such, but I don't plan to cut out my Nivea lip moisturizer.

    African American Female on HCG

    Hi,

I am a black female using HCG and have lost 18 pound in almost four weeks. I didn't discontinue the use of any hair oils or skin products.

I'm 5'7 1/2 and started at 168 I'm down to 150 - trying to get to 145-147! Your friends should be fine, I didn't change ANY product use. Four weeks for me happens this Wednesday and I hope to be down a full 20 pounds.

    Kindly,

    Mimi

I had a 50 pound weight loss and never changed my shampoo or conditioner which is a leave in conditioner. I agree with a previous poster, pick and choose certain battles. No one wants to feel dehumanized on their journey to health! LOL. I will say that I started to use aloe vera lotion and found it superior to a lot of the facial creams I had been using and use it on my body as well. As a matter of fact I use it on my teen age son's face.

We are Caucasian and my son has very course curly hair. I use pomade on HIS hair. It took me a long time to figure that out too! It was outside my experience. I can tell you that you can spend a fortune on hair care products in this...genre...and never end up with anything better or more cost effective than pomade. The few exceptions are a few Jon Freida products... But cost and ease of use: pomade.

I can see not slathering your hands and body in oil, but I have to wonder how much oil you can absorb through your hair?

As far as the slow losers, encourage them to post. I've been known to tweak up some very good weight losses on my thread.

Hi.. I'm waiting for my Hcg in the mail as well. When do you suppose your supply will reach you? I'm in need of a support person. I'm new to the site, however I've researched this method and has decided to put my best foot forward as this will be the beginning of the next chapter of my life. At this point, I'm sort of unclear of the food items as it applies to successful releasing. My vision is to create daily menus and pre weigh everything weekly. If you are up for a support buddy let me know..

Baby oil worked on my skin and my sisters. To get around the issue of the hair, I put on rubber gloves and I have some oil from Carol's Daughter called Lisa's Elixer and i poured it in my hands and rubbed them together and rubbed it on my hair but did not go into my scalp. It did not cause me to stall at all. My sister used baby oil to grease jher scalp. I have used the hair Elixer through two rounds and took off 36 and 34 lbs. I also used Muzani Liquid Smoothguard in my hair to blowdry it which is somewhat oil based and their spray for heatstyling and I just don't dig into my scalp. The products probably get there somewhat but I am not disturbing my scalp so perhaps that is why I don't have a problem with it interfering with the HCG. Good luck!

I am in my first week with the HCG diet. Day 2 of LVCD. Lost 2 pounds. YAH!!! I have been wearing my hair natural for 1 1/2 years now. I was using a homemade conditioner once a week made with leave-in conditioner, castor oil, jojoba oil, and aloe vera juice. I modified my conditioner by omitting the castor and jojoba oils and replaced with mineral oil. I will see how it affects my hair when I take it down from the protective style of two-strand twists.
    Many blessings,

Clarification: I lost two pounds after gaining 1 pound during my loading days.

I agree with UCRGRAD....as though I might not I believe your oils are Raw/Organic. I use ayurvedic oils as well as raw/pure oils (castor, evoo, evco, etc). If they are using oils w/ mineral oil and petroleum in it....i would have them not use it. My hair is so much more manageable and healthier when I switched from using those unhealthy products.

My hair has adapted to the use of mineral oil. I changed my leave-in conditioner to Giovanni. Since I wear my hair natural, I tend to keep it in protective styles during the week and down on Sundays. I just keep it moisturized by spritzing with water daily. I also use baby oil to keep my skin from being so dry.

I notice this post is old however, your support is very much needed. I am a natural sister who had braids the first two weeks of this Phase I. I am doing well 12 lbs thus far a little under 2 weeks. I am fearful about going without oils on my scalp. I have been good without oil on my skin I have been using Eucerine, which keeps me moisturized, same deodorant , tooth paste but I need to know what to do about my hair. What did you use to wash and condition your hair? please inform. I am very concerned. my hair cannot dry out this would be bad. Thanks in advance. here's to my 155 lb goal (predeployment weight).

You can use most hair care products since they are rinsed out after a few minutes.

Where it gets tricky is if there is oil in your leave-in products.

Are you co-washing? I did that for a while and loved the Trader Joe's Nourish Spa Conditioner.

A friend of mine is Black (she's from the Caribbean, so she's not African and she's not American and does not refer to herself as AA), whenever she does hcg she gets her hair microbraided and it grows like a weed for the couple of months she leaves them in. She says she uses the braid oil mist sprays and doesn't get them on her scalp with no problems. She also uses baby oil on her skin to as she says "keep the level of ashy-ness" to a minimum.

    Hope this helps....
