Thread: 7 months, no period??

    7 months, no period??

    Hi everyone,

I wanted to post what has been going on with me on the boards to see if it happened to anyone else as well.

I did two rounds of hcg injections and lost about 40 lbs. Loved this diet! But, I have not had a period since I completed the diet... Which is now about 7 months ago. Has anyone else experienced this? I know rapid weight loss can mess with it, but 7 months seems a bit long to me. If you did experience something similar, did doctors prescribe anything to help?

Thanks to those who contribute their thoughts!

    Hi Whitelightning,

I did 2 complete rounds one of 40 days and one of 23 days. I have missed by period going on the 3rd month now. Im also having a lot of hair loss which is why i decided to wait until the hairloss stops prior to continuing with a third round. I am not pregnant and went to the dr, he did a complete blood pannel everything looks ok, so i guess the hormones get weird and thats why we are behind. Im expecting my period in a week lets see what happens. Right now my major concern is the hair loss which is extreme and i have thin hair so it is noticeable on me. Im taking Biotin and multivitamin im on P4. I really want to do another 40 days of HCG for my 3rd round but the hair loss is preventing me from starting since i dont want to worsen the shedding.

My sister and I are both on phase2 but my sister is on round 2. she hasn't had her period for 3 months (since she finished round 1). She isn't pregnant so we are thinking that it is more the weight-loss itself (she lost almost 40lbs on round 1) that is causing it- not the hcg. I would imagine that significant weight loss through any method would also cause this but we are just curious why and if it can do any lasting damage....

Like Want2b130, I am losing hair like mad going on 2.5 months solid. I also skipped TOM for two months but it is back evey 35 days now.

Are all of you using rx HCG? It seems that the only folks experiencing hairloss/missing TOM are those of us using rx grade. If this is the case, it would seem to be more hormone based then diet or rapid weight loss based.

    Any thoughts on this?

humm...I have been super regular for the last 2 yrs. I'm 12 days late now, but had a super hard PMS (on time). I am almost 49 so could be the bigM, but I'm not having other symptoms. R1 I had 2 periods, perfectly on time, but wicked cramps so I skipped 2 days each time. and I've had a couple more periods since then. not huge wt. loss for me, so it's not that. My hair is good. I'm on drops from Celeste (says they are real and HHCG..which doesn't make sense, but we take way less drops than other HHCG).

I must say, I did really enjoy the regular thing! I don't "feel" preggo, so haven't tested. With my second baby, I knew immediately. The really weird thing is that I don't feel PMS anymore or like it's impending. So, now what?

Well, I finally started today 15 days late!! This hasn't happened for over 20 years. But I dropped 1.6lbs this morning, so it's good. Before HCG I would never drop my PMS weight until at least 4 or 5 days into it.

    Yes,

It is hormonal! But, I was on hHCG not RX. My period has been AWOL for 2 months AND my hairloss actually stopped when I started round 2 but now I'm in R2P3 it looks as if it's picking up again. I don't believe it has anything to do w/the VLCD OR protein deficiency!

In addition to the "big M" , as referenced above, there is this thing called perimenopause which actually starts in your 30's....and is starting yournger and younger all the time, they say. Stress can make the symptoms of perimenopause worse....and lets face it, this protocol is stressful. But we have to balance that with the fact that being overweight is stressful too.....I would say to check with your doctor, have your hormone levels drawn, research perimenopause, and then relax.....let things return to normal. If you have reduced your body fat to really low levels, that will also mess with your periods, but most of you seem like you are going to do more roumds, so I am guessing that is not the issue here.

My personal experience is that my periods became more normal while losing weight on protocol. i am firmly into perimenopause....and sneaking up quietly on the big M in a few years. Everyone is different in how they react to stress, and to losing weight. Make sure you consult your doctor if you are worried. If your test results are OK, and you are OK otherwise ( normal paps, etc), then you should be OK. Hang in there.

This is an old thread but I thought I would add that I am 10 days into P3 and TOM is 9 days late. I am never this late. Never. When on the HHCG I was exactly 28 days which was interesting bc I was usually a 31-32 day cycle. Anyway, I don't mind not having it, just wanted to make sure it's normal. Seems that this has happened to enough people that I shouldn't be concerned. I don't think it's from the weight loss bc I only lost 15.5 lbs.

    R1P2 (not including loading gain/loss)
    Week 1= - 7.4 lbs.

    Week 2= -2.3 lbs.
    Week 3= -2.9 lbs.
    Week 4 = -1.0 lb.
    Week 5 = -2.2 lbs.
    P3 as of April 26
    May 5-Steak Day worked great
May 6-High Protein Day worked great
May 29-2.5 lbs over LDW, eating tons of fat and about 1,400 calories per day w exercise 5 times per week
    June 22-3 lbs over LDW
    July 5...Going back on P2!!! I can't wait!

I'm also a 31-32 day cycler and not seeing anyone so no chance of being pregnant over here, but have not had my period (it's more than a few days late). I'm still in P2, first round, on hhcg. I read all sorts of things about people getting extra periods but not missing any so I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. No hair loss so far, but I think I will definitely start praying that I don't lol

I would pay extra to have this as a side effect. Really no period? I would stay on HCG until I hit menopause if it would stop my horrible periods, but no, they come right on time wether I want them to or not. Sometimes even a few extras thrown in for good measure LOL

I am in P4D2 was on P3 for 4 weeks, and have not had TOM since the second week of May, so I'm almost 2 weeks "late" now. I WAS on depo-provera injection for birth control on and off, mostly on, for 10 years and haven't really had my TOM in years until late April of this year, then again two weeks later in May. My last depo injection was in November 2010, so as of February it became ineffective, technically speaking. I am expecting TOM now, sore BB's and all, and it's still not here and I feel like it should be full on but seem to only be lightly spotting >.< I just want it over and donewith and regular already so I know exactly when to expect it and not have to worry about am I prego or not. It was GREAT not having it all that time, but now, not knowing when it's going to come could be an embarrasing surprise, if y'all know what I mean. So that fact that it's not normal has got to be all of these factors combined. I'm sure I've nothing to worry about, right?
