Loose skin - what to do?

With rapid weight loss, I found my skin loose on upper thighs, and belly, above and below the waist.

It's not bad enough for surgery (if I even had the $$$ for that!) but annoying.

Years ago when I wasted money on liposuction, they had me wear shapewear, basically a bodysuit with legs down to my knees.

I am trying that again, to see if it helps shrink the skin faster.

    Has anyone else tried this?

I have the same problem, especially in the thighs. I also read about shapewear or compression garments and decided to give it a try since I had some stashed in the back of a drawer. Put the corset thing on and it didn't compress anything! Looked at the tag - 3X - of course it doesn't fit any more Anyway, it gave me a good laugh. I debated buying something in a smaller size, but in the end decided to just wait it out.

If you still have the shapewear from before, I don't think it could hurt to try it. Let us know your progress, OK?

You might try dry skin brushing. That often helps.

Thanks Colleen I just read up on that. ☺ Good for cellulite as well. And the face. I may try it on my arms as I have loose skin there. Exercises have helped me a bit with that as well.

Thanks, I had never heard of dry skin brushing. I read up on it and will try - as if I needed an addition to my morning routine!

Hi again, been thinking about the compression garments since you first posted. Also picked up a pair of yoga pants at Costco on my last trip, and now that the weather is cooler, I've been wearing them almost every day (I work from home). The wrinkles on my thighs seem to have decreased a bit! It looks that way to me, at least. Makes sense that if you support the skin while it is shrinking back, it is not having to fight gravity as well.

I did dry skin brushing a few years back and liked it. I tried it again a few months ago, but my skin is too sensitive right now.

    How are you doing gz9?

Hi LinderLou, I also see some improvement. I have been sleeping in my shapewear and when I get up in the morning, I think everything is just that little bit smoother and tighter.

I am trying the dry brushing with a nubby rubber brush for cellulite followed by a bristle brush for skin tightening. I don't have time every day for the all-over brushing. Not sure the dry brushing does much, but it's worth a try.

Update: I have been using the dry brushing about every other day, and the nubby brush daily. I sleep in my one-piece compression garment and a soft sports-style bra.

The loose skin is pretty much gone. I still have cellulite but I also have 20 lb to go in Rounds 2 & 3.

After Round 1 Phase 2, I continued to lose about 1 lb per week. My one-piece still compresses my abdomen, but I have another a size smaller in reserve for the next rounds.

You can tighten by workouts or following doctor to cut down the extra skin.

My loose skin problem was never extreme enough for surgery. It has tightened up again.
