Thread: When do I adjust again

    When do I adjust again

Went to clinic and was started on 200iu hcg sub q. On Tuesday 9/10. 2 days of loading and woke up hungry and stayed hungry through Friday 9/13. I called clinic and asked if I could reduce dose to 150 iu and they said yes. I did that Saturday and today but still feeling very hungry. After I drink water it gets worse.
My questions is should I lower my dose again to 125iu and if so when should I do that. The clinic does not really seem to have any good answers. Iím following all parts of protocol.
I have lost 4 lbs since loading morning weight of 205. Today I was 201. Any help would be much appreciated.

You should not change dose without doing a skip day. The skip day is necessary to determine which way to adjust. The reason is that you can have extreme hunger as a result of either a too-high dose, or a too-low one.

Most of the requests for help we get in these forums have to do with the high doses many clinics put people on. I'm sorry you have to deal with this. The HCG protocol is so easy when dose is correct. Hunger is barely there or non-existent, and weight drops quickly the first week.

You likely went in the right direction, because 200iu is too high for most people. However, just changing the dose and not skipping a day first, your levels take several days to come down so you don't get relief (or proper losses) until it levels out. You might not see the easing of hunger until tomorrow, actually. If the 150iu is the right dose.

After you have been on the same dose for 4 days you can skip. So plan to skip on Tuesday if you are still experiencing hunger or poor losses by tomorrow. What you will want to look for is your hunger level in the late afternoon to early evening. If it is less or gone, you should lower to 125iu. If hunger gets stronger, then you would raise to 175iu.

Weight loss in HCG is counted from the weight taken the morning of the first Very Low Calorie Day (VLCD) What is your loss when calculated that way?

Thank you so much for answering. On my VLCD 1 my weight was 205. This morning which is Monday VLCD 5 my weight is 199.6. I lowered my dose on Saturday, so I will skip on Tuesday like you said and see what hunger is like that evening. I have also had such a headache. Thank you so much for your help I paid big money for this weight loss clinic and they seem clueless.
I hope I’m figuring this right the first morning after loading I’m counting as VLCD 1 which I weighed my heaviest.

Yes, you take the weight from the morning of your first VLCD after the 2 loading days.

In 5 VLC days, you have a a loss of just over 5 pounds. The average first week loss is somewhere around 7-11 pounds for women. So if you lose a bit more in the next two VLCDs, you will be in that range.

A headache the first week of HCG is fairly common. Make sure you are drinking enough and put a pinch of mineral salt in your water to help with hydration. Its ok to take a headache remedy if you think it helps.

I hear you about clueless providers. Over the years, dose adjustments are needed more and more as clinics and providers have been recommending super high doses which put people in extreme hunger. We see it all the time.

I started my HCG rounds with a functional medicine doctor, who didn't know about adjusting doses. Fortunately, I was ok at her dose for my first few rounds before I found this forum and got help here. DH did well the first round, however, in the second round, couldn't handle the extreme hunger. The worst part was that he toughed it out to the end with hardly any loss. She never offered him any help along the way. I know enough now that I could help him adjust his dose to fix that, but he had such a bad experience, he won't ever try it again.
