Honestly, paleo should be a breeze. Instead of potatoes, you can try yams, which are quite paleo. And I know Mark Sisson is torn on the topic of rice - occaionally, it should be okay: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/is-ri...#axzz1xsxwGxzq My favorite is actually a cauliflower rice version... but I love cauliflower in any form.

The main thing I had to change when going paleo? Pretty much all processed foods were out. I finally found mustard without added crap in our regular supermarket. Had to go organic for vinegar without sugar and weird additives. But while most of my taste staples are expensive, those aren't used all that much either - my expensive balsamic vinegar lasts me quite a while, the same for my premium olive oil. And it took a couple of days to really revel in fats - I love my cocnut oil as well as my olive oil, and add sour cream to many dishes.

But I really am having a blast cooking real food again. If it has to be quick, just some grass-fed ground veal, mushrooms, onions, and a dash of balsamic and mustard make a perfect meal when served on field greens or lettuce. Plus I am having fun experimenting with my slow cooker, and am *very* tempted to get a sous vide once I have a decent fridge... that would mean getting cheaper cuts as well, since both slow cooker and sous vide do well on those.

And Grammy already said that Canadian meat might not even be all that bad, grass-fed or not... I know I have to find a balance between budget, availability, and paleo - I usually do well combining affordable grass-fed cuts with some premium grass-fed choices, pastured poultry, and conventional meat from the fresh meat counter. Wild-caught fish is all frozen, in my case. And veggies? I choose local over organic, and mix that with frozen or regular choices.

I think that regardless of whether you do paleo, primal, Atkins, etc....the idea of HCG is that it puts you back in control. I know that before I did HCG the first time, I always assumed that if I lost weight through dieting, then I would have to completely "be good" forever to avoid putting the weight back on. What I learned through HCG is that there are certain foods that my body processes well, resulting in no weight gain (after I stabilized) - and there are other foods that will definitely put the weight back on me in a quick way! For me, it's sugar and yeast...kills me!

The BEAUTIFUL thing is this....I know now how to fix it! I weigh every day....if I want to splurge on something I can - but I also know that after that splurge I will need to go back to eating what I know my body reacts well to. In that way, I can stay on track, maintain my weight loss, but also not feel the pressure of "never" being able to enjoy something that I may want.

Now...that said, I wasn't out eating potatoes or rice every day. I might have something like that once a week, at most. It's funny to me still to think that I used to be a carb ADDICT! After HCG though, I found that I didn't really even want carbs as part of my daily diet - I became a cavewoman after my first P3! My tastes changed dramatically, and I think that using the HCG and sticking to protocol did that for me.

I travel a lot for business, and during my P4s there were a couple of times when I wanted cheesecake, and I had it. Yes....I gained 5 lbs from it (water retention), but that's ok. On those occasions, whether it be a potato, or some queso dip with nachos, or cheesecake...I knew I could have them. If I made that choice, then I owned the results on the scale and then I did what I needed to fix it.

    I hope this helps.

This has been very interesting, I had never heard of the paleo diet until now, reading everything all of you have said. I watched the video of Robb Wolf and he makes alot of sense. Now I know why i feel so much better since starting this diet, I am taking care of the inflamation in my body by eating this way. I was wondering how I was going to keep my weight loss after this diet, but now I think this might be something for me the paleo diet. I will research further, read some more, but I think I can do this. Thanks for all your comments even though we may not often comment, we are reading all this info and taking it in. This forum is terrific and all the people who care enough to share!

i do believe in evolution, just more MICRO evolution, than the darwin idea that everything came from slime, then turned into dinosaurs etc...

i also don't believe adam and eve were the first people on earth, coz remember when their kids fought and cain killed abel, and God sent cain away? and cain complained that people would meet him on the road and kill him... what people? if adam and eve were the first?

so anyway, i think i'll just 'let the mystery be' lol

also i've heard about this diet not leaving you with saggy skin after the loss, and if it saves me 20 grand in a tummy tuck, and all the pain and suffering that goes with a tummy tuck, i'm down wid dat lol

if you can afford paleo food, and are a cook, then that sort of 'atkins' type diet is easy to stick to for a long time, i was on a diet like that for years because of having systemic yeast

anyway, thanks again, i'm going back to watching the videos lol

I don't want to make a mess of this thread, but I just have to say that Adam and Eve were the first people made in God's image not the only people created.

On HCG, learn as much as you can, because if you don't your results will devastate you. This isn't a "diet" it is a actual protocol and it must be followed that way. You can't cheat on hcg and only gain a little bit, you could end up gaining 5-10lbs of course everyone is different. You are also resetting your hypothalamus and basically giving your metabolism a make over, so it will function as it once did before becoming bogged down with processed crap. '

Use this forum, the people on here are amazing and want nothing for the best for you. The search engine is awesome and you can find a answer to pretty much any question you can think of. Good luck!!

Not according to Jewish tradition. "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness" - that is the first time "man" is mentioned. There are some discussions if the neanderthals could have been created on the 5th day, as animal-like creatures... but human/ man would have been the 6th day. Sepher hayYobelim indicates that Cain, Abel and Seth married their sisters, which were elaborated on in that scroll... I love talking torah, but - some things won't be known till the coming of Elijon, when all will be clear. Ooh, I have learning on Sunday - gotta see if my teacher can help me find the matching midrash and talmud passage - I usually read chronically and suck at finding the right passages.

hi you guys, ok, by the sounds of it, if i don't go paleo and eat just meat and veggies, i will gain the weight back, and i'm not prepared to do that, the thought actually sickens me a bit, i forget which diet i tried, it was some atkins like diet, maybe the zone, and i had to give it up after about 3 weeks coz i was literally GAGGING on meat... i'm definitely more the vegetarian type, with free range eggs and maybe some cheese added in.... like i said, if i can eat a salad with egg and cheese in it, i'm in HEAVEN... but yeah, this paleo business is not helping to talk me into this AT ALL lol

Uhm, no. I never went paleo and kept all the weight off of my first round. Did gain back after my 2nd round but have since discovered I have a gluten and cow dairy problem. There is nothing wrong with salads. Can't wait to have my green drink in a few days!

You don't have go to paleo, you can do anything that keeps you away from processed, refined and foods you are sensitive too. P3 is where you want to indulge high fat low carb and meat is the easiest form of protein with the highest fat (well you never want high fat high carb cause that= high weight!). I have seen vegetarians do hcg, I never followed up to how they stabilized. But I am sure most have.

Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels. I had some ice cream when loading for round 2, but there was no urge or craving or anything. I just had some ice cream. To be liberated from cravings over a long period of time, to have the tools to keep the weight off after hcg, to reshape, to feel beautiful, to not be a slave to food is all worth much more than all the excuses I could come up with to not do the diet and to hold on to those foods that I thought made me feel better. You have to be ready though, as it has to be a commitment to longterm health. You have to be able to take on that responsibility for yourself and that is not easy. But once you are in it and see the pounds come off so easily, and from the right places, you will know you did the right thing for yourself.
LOVE THIS!!!! I think anyone who's had a weight issue feels this way in the beginning, you hit the nail on the head here with all you said, it's SO true!
