Hcg is overkill for only 10 pounds. You might try Pomroy's 28 Day Fast Metabolism Diet. It should help your metabolism long term. Goo luck!
My expert Hcg Diet advice is based specifically on the original Simeons Protocol. Grammy's personal protocol:Grammy's Hcg Diet Protocol

I can't really explain it more than what I already did. That comes from Mark Sisson so you might read up on his page.

"Regarding the resetting of my metabolism and hypothalamus by doing HCG (which was my real interest in doing it) - my resting bmr is very low. something like 1300 calories a day? Which means I'd have to eat like 1000 calories a day on a regular 'diet' - which is crazy and would just trigger me into stuffing my face."

If your RMR is 1300 calories then eating anything over that is overeating, and something you need to control. Being 'triggered into stuffing your face' is a separate issue, an emotional one. There are lots of people who stay thin because they don't give in to those cravings or 'triggers'. They allow themselves to be hungry, because they know their body is pulling a fast one on them. My RMR is around 1100 or so because of PCOS, and I've learned to live comfortably on 1000-1200 calories. I don't fear hunger anymore, and I'm losing nicely. The subreddit \fatlogic really helped me in that regard!

Adam and Eve did not eat meat (I saw that in a post above and had to chime in). They had everything they needed in the garden without needing to kill anything. That came later.
