Turkey in any form isn't on protocol. If you're going to use it anyway then make sure it's ground turkey breast meat only...and then just have 3.5 ounces as usual for your protein.

I've been using ground turkey meat almost every day since I have started. Honeysuckle brand 99% fat free. It has worked for me and I'm sure, others too. Do what works for you and varation is great. I do have a tasty recipe though if you want it.
Cook the turkey and use about 1/8 cup of mixed onions, peppers & spices (got a bag from Wal-Mart). Sometimes I use a dash or Lowry's Season Salt (but that is optional). Tasty and filling...at least for me.

I was just about to post a thread about the use of ground turkey, but am glad that I did a search for any previous posts first! I did my first round of HCG about a year and a half ago and did use very lean ground beef as part of the diet. However, my family transitioned from beef to ground turkey about a year ago, and I was hoping I wouldn't have to buy ground beef just for use on the diet. I'll have to check the fat % on the turkey in my freezer though. We buy it in bulk from Costco, and I don't think they offer the leanest kind. Good to know others have had success using ground turkey - hope I'll be one of them too!
I never quite understood why lean turkey breast isn't included on protocol. It's better than 93/7 ground beef and actually probably healthier. Ground turkey breast is usually 97/3. I made some turkey burgers on it when I started my last round but I overcooked them on the stove and they were very dry and I ended up freezing them. Haven't taken them out of freezer to try because I got a little concerned when I heard no turkey. Although the company that I get my drops from has added protein selections and turkey is one of them.
@ April - the turkey from costco is usually the lean ground turkey (not turkey breast) and it's 93/7 if it's the Jenni-O brand, at least that's what they sell here in CA in bulk!
Just FYI, turkey isn't okay for some of us. I did an experiment my last round. I'm a B blood type and I'm supposed to eat turkey and not chicken. So I chose a week that in the previous 4 rounds had been a week of good losses with no stalls. I ate turkey instead of chicken. Result? A stall of that full week.![]()

I've been having ground chicken breast - love it, can do it into a burger, crumbled for a lettuce wrap...yum.
I agree to what robbi suggest to you. You need to make sure it that this is not infected with the salmonella. Because there was a news that it turkey cause an outrage of salmonella. Within the last few months, an outbreak of salmonella diseases has sickened seventy seven people and wiped out one. Conventional antibiotics haven't been very successful in treating this infection. The authorities have yet to pin down a cause of this episode, though ground turkey is possibly the culprit. Source for this article: 6 month salmonella outbreak still leaving FDA mystified
I havent read responses so sorry if Im repeating info. But Lawrys is NOT ok to use, has sugar and corn starch. And Turkey is not protocol, you can use ground chicken breast also sold in stores by the ground turkey and ground beef. Make sure its Breast not Ground Thigh which is also sold in stores.
Be VERY careful of seasonings. Taco seasoning is also a no-no, again it has corn starch and sugar in it.
Skinny feels better than Starbucks tastes... or so I keep telling myself!
i had ground turkey wrapped in lettuce and i didn't loose any weight it was very lean to 99% so i guess for me it doesn't work , i though turkey was good for you, even though it isn't on protocol lol .. guess that's why, cause some may not loose or gain .
