Thread: Hi, I'm new with a QUESTION..

Hi, I'm new with a QUESTION..

    Hello Everyone,

What a great forum. I loaded last weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and am now on vcld day 4. I guess thats how you word it. I am doing the pellets. Why can't you touch them? Sometimes its hard to get the dose correct using the lid. Just curious is all, and if others want to shed some light on how they get the right amount of pellets in their mouth with out touching them, I am all ears.

But my main question is... I didn't think about this before I started the diet and really didn't figure out when I would be done with this phase and move onto p3, p4. I am going kayaking with a tour group in July for a week. The guides fix all meals for seven days. I just realized that the day I fly out is Day 34 vcld. How do I go about doing this program and my trip? I read somewhere on here that people take a break, so do I plan a break for that week and start back up when I get back? Do I go into the next phase when I leave? I sure hope someone can help me out to plan for what I need to do to be successful.

    Thank you so much!

I love everyone's tickers. I will have to see about making one for me.

    Michele

Hi, I'm new too, and was kinda wondering the same thing? I'm on vlcd 9 and we go on vacation in July and I wonder about this planned break as well! Anyway, this forum has helped me so much during this past week!
    Good luck to you!!

nichole- you're not supposed to take a break unless you've had at least 23 doses. when do you go?

michele- i'd stop the hcg about 5 days before you leave. do your last 72 hours of the vlcd (48 if on hhcg), and transition to P3. have a couple of days in P3 to get your system acclimated to the change in diet before you leave. if you want to, you can come back after vacation and jump back on for the rest of your doses- or just stop before vacation and call it good.

Michele, even in P3, you're going to have trouble if the guide is fixing high carb foods like sandwiches. You need to find out more about it or you're in danger of undoing all your hard work.

michele- they also might be willing to deal with food requests. i'd just tell them you can only eat meat, vegetables, salads and fruit.

Thank you both for your guidance. I really appreciate it. I really want this to work, and its hard so far, but am so determined to get to my goal, so I will.

Friday I am traveling, so on my own. Saturday on my own. Sunday trip starts - 5 nights 6 days rustic camping on different islands and guides fix meals. Other days on my own.

    Sample menu:

    Day 1
    Breakfast on my own
L-Deli meat, cheese sandwiches, fruit, veggies, cookies
D- Salmon, tortellini, caesar salad, peach cobbler, HD: Brie, Bagette, grapes

    Day 2
B-scrambled eggs, Homestyle Potatoes, raisin bread, melon
L-Mexican Guacomole and cheese on tortillas, fruit, veggies, cookies
D-Teriyaki Chicken, cashew rice, broccoli, fruit salad, carrot cake HD: chips and salsa

    Day 3
B-French Toast, bacon, bananas, yogurt, fruit
L-Bagels with cream cheese, fruit, veggies, cookies
D-Lasagna, garlic bread, tailgate salad, chocolate fondue, HD: Smoked Salmon, cream cheese on wasabread crackers

    Day 4
    B-Quesadillas, melon
L-Tuna salad sandwiches, fruit, veggies, cookies
D-Tortilla soup, chilliean salad, pineapple upside down cake HD: mixed nuts, cheese and crackers

    Day 5

    B-Blueberry Pancakes, fruit
L-Tabouli salad on pita, hummus, fruit, veggies, cookies
D-Mild Coconut Milk Veggie Curry with noodles, squash, jicama/papaya, cucumber salad, brownies. HD: roasted almonds

    Day 6:
    B-Oatmeal with fresh fruit
    L-Chicken wraps, fruit, veggies, cookies
    D - on my own

    Day 7
on my own, back home late

We are limited on what we can bring on our own. They suggest that if we need more protein, to bring protein bars. Rustic camping.

So, how should I move forward knowing what the menu is like.

    Thank you both!

    Michele

oh, gosh- i thought at first that you were posting what you were planning to eat! lol Good grief- they're killin' ya here.... Almost all carbs. i'd ask them what the veggies are- i'm guessing they are talking about raw veggies, and that could be a lot of carrots which most people limit on P3. you're not going to have time to check and see how you do with eggs and cheese, so that's a risk but it's one you'll probably have to take. i'd try to limit at least the cheese. i'd definitely plan on jumping back to P2 when you get back.

"relatively" safe, in the order that i see them on here- deli meat, cheese off the sandwich, fruit (but i'd stick to small portions, and try to pick the lower sugar options), veggies, salmon, caesar salad, brie, eggs, melon, chicken, bacon, tuna, nuts. there are days on there where you're really going to be in trouble with their options. if you didn't know the menu when you first signed up, you might try calling and complaining about the plethora of carbs....

I'd definitely take some jerky with you- make your own if you can. i might be tempted to figure out a way to take a little peanut butter, too. that's a risk on P3 but it's certainly better than french toast or lasagna when you don't have other options. I don't know what you have available where you live in terms of sugar-free protein bars, but i think the doctor's carbrite bars are better than some, and i like the chocolite brand ones. In fact i have a ton of both of them in various flavors if you don't think you have time to order some. again, not ideal but better than what they are offering! i'd probably also take some of my own nuts, too.

Yes... I have a feeling its high carbs due to the 6-7 hours a day of kayaking... I knew of the menu after I signed up a year in a half ago, but wasn't planning to do such a restricted diet right before, but nothing else was working, and would like to get some weight off before this trip, and just found out about this diet from a friend last week.. I only have 25 lbs to reach my goal, but still.
I don't think I can carry food on planes, right? I will only have carry on, so I could pick things up when I get there (Port McNeil, BC, Canada). I live in southern Cali.

I never heard of those bars, but I will do a google search and see if I can get some.

What kind of nuts would be best?

How much do you think I can gain on this trip? I guess I can go back on P2 when I return, but I hate doing so.

Is there anyway, I can do so much of P2 now, then do a short round of P3 and get into P4 to handle the menu? Although, I really like your peanut butter idea instead of pancakes, ft, lasagna.I could always do peanut butter and apple, celery. Cheese is no problem to avoid as its not a big favorite of mine.

Thanks for your great ideas. I will have to try to think of a way to bring more of my own food to substitute theirs. Hmmmmm...

I could probably bring apples, oranges to have for my fruit. I could bring my veggies too. Protein (meat wise) is hard due to the situation. Is Oatmeal is big problem in P3? If not, I could do that every morning. I could try eggs on P2 as I read that somewhere on the forum that they are allowed and see how I react. Then, I could always take maybe hard boil eggs. Not sure how that would work though, but maybe. Hmmmm.. Maybe if I come up with some options to cover my own food for most of it, then maybe this could work doing P3. I need to learn more about P3 as I have only been researching mostly P2 (vcld).

no oatmeal. you can carry food on a plane- i've done it several times. meat is definitely a problem but the jerky would work. for nuts i'd recommend walnuts. peanuts are a legume and have more carbs, as do cashews. almonds also work well for many, although the carb count is higher than walnuts.

certainly shortening up P2 would help, so you would be further along in P3. but you have to do a minimum of 23 days, so don't stop before then. how long P3 is really needed varies- most people need at least 3 weeks, and then add foods slowly in P4. some stabilize within 10 days to 2 wks, but those people are rare. personally, if i ate the menu you listed i'd gain at least 15#. once i gained 10# in P3 in the first four days- and that was with never eating any sugar or starch! so it's impossible to predict how your body will react- it all depends on how it handles carbs. you could gain nothing, you could gain 10. but the further along you are in P3, the better your chances will be. but unless you totally avoid sugar and starch, i'd recommend going back and doing at least another 2 wks on P2- then proceeding normally into P3.

Thank you!! I am a bit overwhelmed, confused. I just need to write out a plan with menus for P3 and to prepare for my trip..

Well, my second flight is weight restricted to 25 lbs, so am not sure how much food I will be able to take outside of my other stuff. We shall see.

Jerky.. You mentioned earlier about making your own???

23rd day would be July 13th. I leave on July 22nd.

No scale once I leave early July 22nd..

I can't gain too much due to my clothing won't fit.

I will have to try to figure this out...

i'd definitely stop on the 13th, then. give yourself as much time in P3 as you can before you go. start with a couple of days of meat/veggies/salads/fats only, then "test" eggs and cheese as described here. http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgvanillafor...hase-3/#Item_0 If dairy isn't a problem for you cheese is an easy thing to take with you. i've never made jerky but if you start a thread there is probably someone out there who could help you, or search online for a recipe. just don't add any sugar. if you need a sweetener, use xylitol.

here you go- isn't your queen helpful? lol http://allrecipes.com/recipe/t-birds...ky/detail.aspx
