    Scared Newbie

    Hi 😊
I have spent so much time on this site reading and re-reading about the hCG plan. Thanks to all that ask and answer here as it has served me well.
After I finally worked up the courage, I contacted one of the recommended sites and ordered my hCG. It is being shipped now. Yay!
However, while reading through the “phase” information, I fear that I may have misunderstood the doctor... the “consult doctor” (that was part of the ordering process) stated that I would be on a dose of 175iu and that I should take it for 40 days, rest for 2 weeks and start again. Is this because I’m appx 60lbs overweight or I did just completely misunderstand?
I can call back to clarify but want the Pro’s opinions too ☺️
From what I am reading here, it appears he is prescribing a 2-week long Phase 3? What am I missing?
    Help please!
Advice, guidance and questions to call back with are extremely appreciated. TIA!

Hi SJ and welcome! This diet is a great tool for losing weight. The doctor you spoke to is to giving out inaccurate information, which by the way, is not uncommon for doctors to do! Most of them have no clue. Recommended starting dose is typically 150iu. It’s 40 injections for a long round. For a long round you need to skip 1 injection each week, so with the skip days, since you only count injections, you can go past 40 days by a few days if you choose. On your last injection day you continue to do P2 (500 calories) for 72 hours before you move into P3. P3 is for 3 weeks, then you move into P4 for 3 weeks so you can start another round until after 6 weeks, once you’ve completed a proper P3 and P4.

Welcome and you will not be sorry... best move ever!
What Justgitterdone says above is correct....

    Between round 1 and 2 it is 3weeks P3 and 3 weeks P4
    between round 2 and 3 it is 4 weeks P3 and 4 weeks P4
    and so on....

the real magic of HCG is the P3 and P4 phases, locking in your LIW,
As a newbie you would be tempted to get back to P2 ASAP..... DON'T....
P3 and P4 teaches you to listen to your body, to understand what your body likes or not like
You learn about your choices regarding food and how you go forward has to become a new normal and that life is not about dieting - normal eating and dieting yet again.....

    Good luck!!

There is something called CYCLING but it is NOT PROTOCOL!
Cycling is where you Do the correct number of weeks on P3 and then Cycle back to P2....
But I would not recommend it after your first Round.... that learning curve in P3 and P4 is very valuable

justgitterdone gave you a good cliff notes version of the protocol timing. And Yvonne gave you wise advice on the importance of the waiting time in between rounds.

As for menu, if your provider is giving you different information about that, they are also probably giving you and expanded menu with items that are not allowed on the original protocol.

If you want the metabolism reset promised by the protocol, it is important to follow the protocol. There is link in the top menu "manuscript" that will take you to the protocol information. Item 44 is the menu of allowed foods. Check your instructions against that.

The plans that change the protocol timing and menus do not depend on the HCG for its fat burning properties. They are basically very low carb plans that aim to get and keep you in ketosis. They include the HCG mainly for its appetite suppression qualities. While this will allow you to lose weight, it does not preserve your muscle, nor rest your metabolism in a way that allows you to stabililze at a lower set point after HCG. The end result is that you will be needing the rest of their product line to continue to fight your rising weight.

Ketosis is NOT important to the HCG protocol. It does not make it work better. Do not be afraid to eat the two fruits per day allowed in the protocol.

If your provider is Diet Doc, you can tell them that you are choosing to do the original protocol and they will support you in that. 150iu is a good starting dose for most people. We can help you adjust if you find its not right for you.

    Thank you all that replied!

Yes, I am using Diet Doc (My) but was not sure if I could say that

I will let my consultant know that I want to stick to the original protocol.

I am so thankful for this group

Yes, DietDoc is very good at working with you that way. The nutritionist will likely try and convince you to add some extra protein, but it is up to you how you want to do the program. They are happy to be supportive of your decision.

Note: somehow the word NOT was missing from my post here. I've corrected it.

Ketosis is NOT important to the HCG protocol.

Welcome SJ, don't be scared! This is a wonderful forum for help, inspiration, and knowledge--you have access to the best coach, commentator ever--it will be great. The protocol is strict, but HCG is wonderful, just a wonderful aid to combat hunger and cravings. Of course, we all have to do our part, making correct choices to do the protocol. It works, but we do have to work the program. You'll be so glad you did in a few weeks. Good luck.!
