Which weight do you calculate your losses from??

Is there an official answer to this question? ... or is it one of those chicken/egg questions? LOL

Which weight do you calculate your losses from?? Your START weight?... or your highest weight AFTER your 2 days of Loading?

Some people seem to post about 10 pound losses... but gained 5 pounds during their load, so wouldn't that be considered a 5 pound loss... not a 10 pound loss? If not, I think it could discourage new people when they see others losing 2-3 times what they lost.

Which way is right?? ... or is there a "right" way??

Please vote above... and thanks in advance for participating.

    Hi Driven,
I did my weight before load day. That is the day I started the drops. Still had great results so far. 225 start 2/28 -210 today.

Wow.... so far, 4 votes and it's a 50/50 split. That's scary. What do the mods & long-timers think about this??

When we are all jumping for joy about huge results, or whimpering about slow progress, shouldn't we all be using the same measuring tool? Personally.... I have always counted from the day I started taking the HCG, but if that's not correct, than I have lost more than I thought, if you add in the extra load weight. ***confused***

Wow... 15 pounds in 11 days! That's great (I assumed you meant 1/28/11 for your start date)

I like to think in terms of my highest weight before discovering HCG for my own happiness. But that begs your question. Officially, Dr. S. says to count losses from your post loading weight. I'm a prime example of why this is "true weight loss."

I lost 46 pounds prior to starting HCG and gained a LOT on round 1 loading partly because some of what I lost pre HCG was normal fat and that had to be replenished, as Dr. S. explains. I agree that could be discouraging, but it is also fully part of the process. People need to know that diets without HCG prior to round 1 loading might mean that you WILL gain a LOT on loading and have to lose that so the fat can be rearranged and abnormal weight can be burned.

But, your point is well taken and is why I don't use a ticker anymore. I put the facts in my siggy a different way. However, so as not to confuse folks any further I don't mention that since my highest weight I'm now down 56 pounds! How much is HCG loss??? Apparently 10 pounds???

Hmmm I've also lost EIGHT pant sizes (18 inches from hips/butt/belly region) and one full shoe size. Do you think that's possible with only 10 pounds? With HCG, apparently it is! Or, we can see that I'm down 29 pounds now from my post loading weight, round 1, and THIS would better account for the many inches gone!

More confused? I only care that this is working and I am 56 pound lighter than I was in November 2007! That's the amount a 5000 BTU air conditioner weighs!! I'm losing much faster (and healthier) and more proportionally with HCG than I ever have before and I'm very happy.

Good luck on your journey! You are about to learn a LOT about your body's needs vs your taste desires. It's a wonderful trip!
    From 376, lost some over 3 years ... Started HCG October 31, 2010 - Sept 30, 2011, - 53 lb with 4 rounds HCG protocol.
Maintained w/ Paleo April 22 - June 1, when I started losing. Lost an additional 20 lb with Paleo eating between rounds.

I think you should use the "after load" weight because it was on your body, then you lost it. I suggest people don't weigh before they load so they don't get upset if they gain a lot during the load.

Kaleein... you make some very good points. I think a ticker is fun... but I'm going to try to keep things "clear" in my signature too. If P&I says it, than it's "official" to me, but I don't think I would have put that weight on unless I pigged out on a LOAD. (then again, I was kinda pre-loading all week **blushing** )

Jt'sMom... that makes sense too... but I don't think I could start any diet without weighing first.

I do before my first injection as my starting weight.....but i understand both methods...it is true that you gained it so therefore it is on your body. But I also think those first couple of days with monster loss can do as much harm as good psychologically.

I count from the day of the 1st injection. That is the day I officially started this diet so that is what I go off. To me, it seems completely counterproductive to count the weight I gained during loading and I would feel like I was cheating myself if I did. I do think it can serve as a great motivator to some (hey I lost 15 lbs, instead of hey I lost 8 lbs!) but I just can't think that way. Especially since I was only at that post-load weight for a day or two, so it was never really my true weight! Just like when you temporarily weigh more at night, or when you are retaining water, that is not a weight your body has been set at.

That's how I have always felt. I'll just keep both numbers handy, for those who ask from both angles. I'm like a girlscout. I like to be prepared. LOL

So if you gain 10 pounds loading don't have to lose those pounds too? I mean they don't just vanish, they're not imaginary pounds. Count them.

I didn't gain anything loading on my first round, so my starting weight is my true starting weight. For the second round I didn't really count the loading weight, it's all water and mine was gone in one day anyway. I do list it as weight loss, but I have my start weight in my signature so those reading can do the math.
