    Gout and HCG?

THis round has been really bad for my gout. Every time I am on HCG I do have more flare ups. I don't know if it's because the rapid weight loss or uric acid stored in the fat cells.

Anyone have gout here? It's just awful...

Yeah. It's not really helpful though. It just says that you'll get an attack on the second day, but I get multiple ones. It say's to take NSAIDS preventively, but they are incredibly dangerous meds that make me feel like I have the flu. I only take them when I can't get into acupuncture.

Do you take a med to reduce your uric acid levels? Are you avoiding all gout precipitating p2 foods? Normally you see folks on Atkins with gout flares....because of the protein. Are you eating things on p2 that you normally don't eat? I doubt if it's the hcg....I think it's something different that you are eating.

No, I am eating all the same stuff I usually do. Minus cheese, booze and sugar. It always flares up more when I am on this stuff. I do believe it's due to losing weight quickly can spike uric acid levels. I was just hoping to meet someone on this forum who has it as well. I can't be the only one... Thanks for your post.

I haven't been tested, but I'm pretty certain I have gout...and didn't have any symptoms prior to hcg. My doctor thinks it is gout also, but I haven't let her draw blood for the test yet. I hate getting blood drawn :-(
The pain in my big toe joint has been awful!!!

    Hey Drr,

Sorry to hear that. You should get tested though, it's much less painful than gout. If you do get tested and have it. I highly suggest NOT doing the Nsaid meds. I have found relief from acupuncture most of the time. I wish someone would of told me about those meds. Every time I take them-I feel like I have the flu. Anyways keep me posted!

Hi this is my first post in this forum, im Tony.
I also have been diagnosed with gout , this is my second round on the hcg diet. During My first round i had an unusual amount of flare ups that were minimaly painfull, i am not on any medication for the gout. my experience with anything uric acid is make sure that you drink at least 2 liters of water a day. Add this to the hcg dieg and you will have to drink even more. Although i do agree with what you think is happening i do feel like when i drink more water that it is helping. Sorry for the bad sentence structure my tablets auto correct is bugging me

Hope this was helpfull your not alone
    Tony

gout is difficult in the best situations...but while on p2, its just cruel. I wonder if you're right about the uric acid levels increasing because of the break down of fat cells.....thats interesting. hang in there guys. Im glad you found some support with each other.

My husband started this diet last week, he is having a terrible gout flare up. His normal gout Rx are not helping - it's definately the diet.
