Thread: Gout and HCG?

  1. #13
i got a horrible case of gout after my first round doing this. it lasted 6 weeks and the meds the dr. prescribed did nothing. my neighbor happen to have pulled a muscle in his back and had a electro shock thing for muscles relaxation. i went to the chiropractor once for what i thought was a broken toe. he said it was gout and put the electro shock thing on my affected foot and set the voltage high. i put it even higher when he went out of the room. after one treatment i was able to put on my shoe, i came back the next day for another treatment. i went and bought one of those things. once i feel the twinge of pain i put it on my foot and let it do the work. it wont totally take the pain away like magic but it absolutely works wonders. the way it works is the electric shock breaks up the uric acid in the joints and the pain really melts away. the shock thing i have i can wear with my shoes on and it will help tons. i dont know the name or the brand. but if you can find one, it is worth its wait in gold for gout attacks.

Yes... when it happens I have to take indomethcin and colchine. It makes you sick, but they are good for a gout intervention. Hopefully his gout is better by now. It flares me up like crazy, but after the diet it gets much better. All the best.

Hi everyone, my name is Alicia and I wanted to give you some information about a clinical research study exclusively for people with gout. You might not have thought about being in a clinical study before, which can be a good way to explore other options. Youll be working with a study specialist to optimize your treatment using allopurinol and one other gout medicine to prevent flares (costs will be reimbursed). The goal is to reduce the risk of future gout attacks. You will also be closely monitored for any side effects (that can happen with all medicines). Everyone who takes part in the study will also receive study-related medical care at no cost to them. To get more information visit: www.goutstudy.com/sns.htm

I have done 4 rounds of homeopathic HCG and have had a gout attack each time. Often my foot and leg would swell up. Acupuncture did not work and I do not like to take prescription drugs. To add insult to injury, I have gained almost all of the weight back. I believe the HCG diet does bring on the gout attacks but I do not what the exact relationship or causation is. I would love to do another round but I cannot tolerate another attack.

With such a high concentration of protein in relation to other macronutrients (practically 0 fat or carbs) and even spinach (purines!) plus releasing extra water this diet can lead to gout symptoms or complications with pre existing gout. It's pretty common in diets with a lot of meat/protein or with the use of diuretics/drinking too much water.

Went to the hospital today to find out what I had done to my foot. Long story short.

    Gout.

    (sigh)

Well, there's a side effect of losing weight that fast and eating all that red meat.

I feel less like a puss knowing it's something so painful that oxycontin is prescribed for it.

A script for Indocid (powerful anti-inflammatory) later and I guess we'll see what happens.

Get this, the doctor said I should stay away from...
    - red meat (only eating because of hCG)
    - rapid weight loss (only because of hCG)
    - strong cheese (only eating because of hCG)
    - red wine, white wine, beer (don't drink anymore)
    - small fish you eat the bones with (don't eat fish really)

This feels like an affliction for rich people I need to buy myself a crown and scepter.

    From Pounds & Inches:
    "Gout

An identical behavior is found in the blood uric acid level of patients suffering from gout. Predictably such patients get an acute and often severe attack after the first few days of HCG treatment but then remain entirely free of pain, in spite of the fact that their blood uric acid often shows a marked increase which may persist for several months after treatment. Those patients who have regained their normal weight remain free of symptoms regardless of what they eat, while those that require a second course of treatment get another attack of gout as soon as the second course is initiated. We do not yet know what diencephalic mechanisms are involved in gout; possibly emotional factors play a role, and it is worth remembering that the disease does not occur in women of childbearing age. We now give 2 tablets daily of ZYLORIC to all patients who give a history of gout and have a high blood uric acid level. In this way we can completely avoid attacks during treatment."

Hydration is the key to the prevention of many diseases. That old rule never fails, drink 8 glasses of water a day. Your water should be pure spring or well water, free of any chemicals. The Third and most important home remedy for gout is keep yourself hydrated at all times.

Hyssop tea gives relief from Gout, especially if combined with Juniper. Certain Herbal Teas help clean out the toxins that cause Gout. Yarrow, Dandelion, and Celery Seed work especially well. You can use them individually or in a combination with one another. Drink two to three cups a day, it's a really good Home Remedy for Gout to manage keeping the disease away.

Another good country Home Remedy for helping ease the pain of Gout is a daily dose of Corncop Tea. Cut the kernels off the cob and boil the cobs in a stew pot with fresh water. Let the mixture simmer for about an hour, remove the cobs and retain the liquid. Store the liquid in a tight container in the refrigerator. Drink a cup of tea after every meal. Do this everyday until the pain is gone.

The most highly recommended Home Remedy for Gout is cherries. Blueberries and strawberries are also very important to your diet. From the start of a Gout attack it's important to start eating fresh tart cherries. I realize it's hard to find fresh cherries anytime you might need them. Pure Cherry Juice is just as good, as long as it is completely natural. You can usually find it in a health food store. Drink at least 8 ounces of Black Cherry Juice every day. This remedy may also affect some Arthritic conditions.

To get quick relief of the painful symptoms of Gout follow a mostly-strawberry diet. For several days, try a diet of nothing but strawberries, a cup of yogurt, and a banana. Certain substances in strawberries seem to relieve inflammation, which will reduce the discomfort caused by this aliment. The yogurt and banana will help keep you from getting Diarrea.

A popular Russian remedy for Gout is getting more fresh garlic into the system. Try to eat at least two cloves a day. It can be mixed in with your food or swallow it whole with water.

It also helps to put some cold water on the affected area to relieve the swelling. Don't use ice that can only damage the skin and cause Arthritic areas to get worse. Try putting cold tap water into a Hot Water Bottle and resting it against the area. Sometimes even hot water will relieve the pain, try resting a Hot Water Bottle filled with hot tap water and rest it against the area.

You can also try making an ounce of massage oil with one ounce of Olive Oil and five drops of Juniper Oil, then massage into the joint several times a day. You can also try to soothe Gout pain by making a cool footbath spiked with Juniper and Rosemary Essential Oils. Just add 10 drops of Rosemary and Juniper Oil to two quarts of cold water.

    Believe Me - I know
    Gout is Extremely Painful

When I first developed Gout I had no idea what hit me. I awoke during the night with a throbbing big toe. At first I thought I developed a blood clot in my foot. I called my Family Physician first thing in the morning.
He immediately suggested x-rays to be sure we weren't dealing with a blood clot but he was sure it was an attack of Gout. I couldn't believe my ears when he diagnosed Gout. The first words out of my mouth was, "It can't be Gout, that's for old people! My sweet loving physician just smiled at me over his bifocals.

The medication made me sick right away, so I started my search for a good Home Remedy for Gout. I tried about everything I could find and even went on a vegetarian diet for a while. I used everything mentioned above. It all cleared up within a few days.

I still drink the Black Cherry Juice and take herbs everyday, Alfalfa, Milk Thistle, and Spirulina. Plus, I eat lots of berries whenever in season.

I have also discoverd the third most important Home Remedy for Gout is to drink plenty of spring water, everyday.

Another good home remedy for Gout is regular excercise. Don't try anything that causes pain, especially within the first few days of developing Gout. It's very easy to injure yourself during a bout of Gout. Wait until the swollen joints are working and flexable again. A brisk walk everyday is a natural and refreshing excercise at any age.
    Amazing post from Fbb.

An Ionic Foot Bath can also do wonders for gout. There is a supplement called Big Toe 1 and Big Toe 2 (not sure of the manufacturer). These also are very helpful for gout. I would highly recommend all of these. I had a friend who had very sever gout and had a foot bath and took the big toe supplements. It was gone in a day and he never took the meds from his doc. I hope this helps.

Wonderful ideas flowing around. I love it and really appreciate it.

Chatted with a friend about this last night and she said, "Gout, what are you like 100?" (titter) (sigh) Can't really blame her, since I think of gout in the same way I think of things like scurvy. Not sure why, but they are in the mental pigeon hole for "things that affected older people years ago."

A single NSAID (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) called Apo-Indomethacin 50mg later and I am not ready to declare a holy war on my blankets for touching my foot. 12 hours later with that one pill in my system and I can move my foot again. I'm not sure if I'm fine now, or not, but I feel 10 million times better. Not sure if I still have vestiges of gout at this point or if it is a mixture of being totally tentative (crystals in my joint lancing through soft tissue sounds a bit less than fun) or perhaps I'm still a bit sore from all the compensatory mechanisms that you put in place when you have an owie (like walking on your elbows and nostrils rather than your feet).

Think I'll take one more and see how I feel. This is a crazy powerful drug, and I don't want to be on it a microsecond longer than I have to.

Swabbie, it just seems some folks are more prone to this than others. If you tend to build up uric acid, you are gonna get it. If that's the case, then high protein diets will trigger it. Gout was a disease of the rich in days gone by, because they could afford to eat more protein. The Atkins diet is famous for triggering gout attacks. Once you get the inflammation down, concentrate on ways to keep the uric acid levels down. There are meds for that, but there should be some natural ways to help as well. Hang in there! . Feel better!

    Thanks : )

I'm going to have to lower some of my protein intake as well as evicting red meat, alcohol, small boneless fish, and strong cheese. I'd prefer not to feel this way again

I started P2 11-1-11 and thus far I have not seen any difference. I am currently on Allopurinol 300 mg.
