Thread: Outpatient Surgery?

    Outpatient Surgery?

Will have a sebaceous cyst removed and an ablation done while on my next round. From what I have read, I should up the protein a bit? And I'm curious - does HCG show up somehow on bloodwork?

Hi! Yes, increase your protein for a few days. Remember you will have some water weight gain from the IV fluid, so don't get alarmed about it. One bag of IV fluid weighs about 2 lbs. about hcg showing up in lab work, with an ablation, they will for certain be running a serum preg test....you should skip your shot the day of the test and the day before to be certain there isn't enough hcg to trigger a false positive. You'd be ok, because with a quantative hcg test, there would be hardly any there. But they might still want to reschedule your surgery, which would be a bummer for you.

this only applies to rx hcg...if you're using hhcg, you have nothing to worry about.

OK - so the ablation is scheduled for May 23 at 7 AM. I should skip May 21 & 22, correct? This will shorten my round by two days. Is it worth ging back on for two days and then back off?

My cyst abscessed and they drained it (Don't EVER let them do that if you can avoid it) Will still have to have it removed, hopefully between rounds.

Hi! You only need to skip the day of and the day before, assuming they are running your preg test the morning of surgery. As for ending your round then, will you be at 23 days? You really shouldn't go less than that, but two days after surgery won't make much of a dent either. Is there any way for you to go a week? Maybe extend your round a bit...unless you are already at 40 or so days.

Surgery was rescheduled for 6/6 and both will be done at the same time. Took last shot yesterday, so it looks like everything will work out. Thanks for your help!
