Vitamins and supplements, p2, p3 and beyond

Hi everybody. I get a lot of questions about vitamin supplements for optimal health both during and after the hcg diet. We have a lot of very knowledgeable folks around here, so I decided to start a discussion thread so we can talk about what supplements might be able to do for you.

Ok, essential supplements for p2 include: a good multi vitamin, potassium, magnesium, biotin, and vitamin C. Avoid oil based supplements, but the little bit of starch used as a binder in most vitamins is ok. Of course, avois gummy versions of vitamins. .

ILuvKats, I was just thinking about this thread the other day and wanting to find it. Glad you posted to it!

I've also found MSM powder helpful with the hairloss that sometimes comes from fast weight loss.

I buy Now Foods brand and mix about 1/4 tsp. with water and put in a little spray bottle. Then spray that on after the shower and let it air dry. It really works! No more hair loss! It's also supposed to help with loose skin. Not sure if it does or not because I also do dry skin brushing.

Hi Lisa! I've heard a lot of great things about MSM, but I thought folks were taking it orally, not applying it topically....but it sounds like a great idea, and seems to work, so all the better! Thank you!

I think some people do take it orally, but the person who first told me about it told me to spray it on because it works faster that way (since everything we put on our skin is absorbed by the body). I was skeptical at first, but I was losing quite a bit of hair and it immediately stopped that, so now I'm a firm believer in it.

My hair has gotten really dry lately...I'm thinking this might help. Thanks again.

You're welcome! Something else that might help is making your own shampoo.

I have hashi's plus I have super curly hair that I straighten, so my hair gets really dry. I started making my own shampoo about 3 months ago and now my hair is soft as silk. Here's the recipe:

    1/2 c. green tea
1/2 c. Dr. Bronner's castile soap (any scent)
    1 1/2 tsp. olive oil
10-12 drops of essential oil (any kind)

Do you have to let it air dry? I have a style that I can't let air dry, or it just won't work.

The MSM? No not on your hair, but I spray it all over my body after I've dried off and then let the MSM air dry. I know it seems weird to spray it on your body to prevent hair loss, but it works!

Oh wow, I didn't realize you meant on your body! It makes a lot of sense actually. Plus, as a bonus, it might help with pain if you have any joint problems! Thanks for clarifying that!

An essential oil is like the blood of the plant of which the oil is from, such as lavender. It is extracted usually by steam distillation. The hot steam captures the essential oil and is carried to a cooling unit where it condenses. The steam contains the essential oil and a water portion that is called a hydrosol. They naturally separate, and there you have two products.
