How long should I wait to get my bloodwork

    after finishing p2?

Im gonna make this very short but I have many reasons to suspect I still have thyroid problems. I was on meds during my pregnancy but was way naive and had no clue of how important treatment is. Fast forward 7 years later, I've had to depend on b12 and loads of caffeine and any other stimulant to keep me functioning, and now my hair is starting to fall off(I've lost half of my hair in the last year, maybe more than half). Stabilization didn't go so wellf or me, and I never even added starches or legumes during p4. I still crept up and I know if the break between injections was longer, I'd creep up some more.

Anyway I feel somewhat prepared to grab this bull by the horns and I will be ordering my own bloodwork to begin, I know I have along road ahead of me, but I have to start somewhere. I don't want to creep up again, and I don't want to be so tired all of the time either, Im only 27 years old so I want to get my results and begin a treatment asap after p2.

As the title thread says, how long after p2 should I wait before getting bloodwork? I was hoping to do it a couple of days after lol, but wondering if that's too soon.

thank you for taking the time to read this.

Hi katnip! Definately wait a good month or 6 weeks before getting labs. Your thyroid levels improve on hcg, so you will have a falsely good result if you test too soon. You want the whole beneficial effect of the hcg to be well out of your system.

Thank you for your prompt reply . Yes it would make sense to wait after the stabilization period, I was just wondering since hCG takes 72 hours to leave the system and all. Impatience lol.

*sigh* I'm just afraid I will gain during that time. I'll have to figure something out in the meanwhile, I can't do p3 the same way I did the two other times. What do you suggest? Is there a way to get through p3 for untreated hypothyroidism? I'm very afraid of gaining what I've lost during the wait period for my exams and treatment.

ps. If anyone else is reading this and can be of some help, I'd appreciate it! <3

Yes, hcg is out of your system in 72 hrs, but the effect on your thyroid doesn't necessarily stop there. It takes awhile for the thyroid to wind back down again to its hypo levels. In this case, you want your tests to reflect as close to your actual lab value as possible.

with a careful p3 you shouldn't gain. It won't be for long. Then you can get your tests run.

    Hi Katnip,
I am in the same boat as you basically. It is so frustrating. My thyroid meds are not right yet but my weight was so ridiculous I decided the only thing to stop it was to do a round. I lost I think 23 pounds and never added in any starches etc basically a clean p3 and my weight just kept climbing. I started another round early to stop it hoping my new Dr. Would get my thyroid adjusted and I could stabilize. He had just increased my meds from 112mg to 125mg and I felt a little better, not great but better. So I had hope I might stabilize this round. He said he wanted to do the test again and I only had 10 days of no hcg. I just spoke with him today and he is lowering me back to 112....I said I didn't want to that I still felt crappy and he said I need to that he isn't comfortable with my numbers like that and I said you are suppose to treat my symptoms and he said we will have to see test in a month at 112...so I don't know what to do. I just emailed iluvkatz for more help! Hoping she can help.
Anyhow I just wanted to let you know you are not the only one and you can do the p3 perfect and have issues... If you come up with any ideas etc please share! You can private msg me or whatever. I am frustrated and don't know what to do or expect....
    Good luck with it..
