[Male] Doing HCG without food (Soylent)

I don't really want to think about food at all during this next round. During the first 2 to 3 weeks, I find that thinking about food makes me think about what I crave. So, my solution is to use Soylent. What is Soylent? Its a meal suppliment. A shake of sorts. One bottle a day plus an apple if needed.

Now, my understanding of the HCG diet is that it essentially follows the ketogenic diet's macro ratios - Low carb, just enough protein, and the rest is fat. If thats not true, then I ammend my statement to "Doing HCG diet using keto ratios". Here is the nutritional information of Soylent:

    400 calories
    21g fat
    34g net carbs
    20g protein.

    It fits!

I think it is worth mentioning that prior to starting this, I used MyFitnessPal to track my calories for two straight weeks. I developed the discipline to stay under 2000 calories every day while eating whatever I wanted. I have confidence in my ability to lose weight at a steady and slow pace. The issue is, I start my first job after I graduate in a few months. I need to lose around 40lbs to feel comfortable and fit into my suit. I have the time and patiences for slowly and sustianably losing the last 20lbs. I feel my mindset this time around will be what makes me stay succesful.

Ill be doing a 26 day run, and I will post routine updates to this thread regarding my experience and my progress. Probably on a weekly basis. My HCG supplier is Nu-Image (They ship to Canada! Bless). As im writing this, I have to say - damn, I don't feel hungry at all. Feeling hungry = thinking about food = cravings. So far, so good.

    Phase 1 (Feb 10th 2017)
    Day 1: 256.2 lbs
Day 2 (weighed before bed): 260 lbs

    Phase 2 (Feb 12th 2017)
    Day 1: 257.2 lbs
    Day 7: Stay tuned!

That isn't enough protein. With the hcg diet, you get about 26 grams of protein per meal. That's also a lot more fat than you'll get on the hcg diet. For example, 4 oz of chicken breast (we only eat 3.5 per serving) is only 1.4 grams of fat. I fear you'll lose muscle mass with so little protein.

    Good point! Thanks!

Using this calculator, I will need 78g of protein minimum to prevent muscle loss. I can up my calories to 600-650 and throw in two chicken breasts. Given that my TDEE is around 2900 (based on two weeks of calorie intake and weight change data), I should still be able to lose weight fairly quickly. Maybe not 1lb/day, but 4 to 5lb/week. Still very acceptable.

Hopefully the fat will not be an issue for me. Based on my experience with doing keto in the past, I will probably just feel satiated throughout the day.

Time will tell, but I can't wait!

I hope it works for you. Men can lose weight so much easier than we women. I'd gain if I tried that on hcg. LOL It's too much fat but it might work for you.

How is the soylent working out for you?

I looked into Soylent and other multiple options and it seems that the ingredients are something of a toxic sludge of highly processed GMO-Pesticide laden Soy. Soy is highly estrogenic and is not recommended for men or children. The other ingredients are highly suspect. It is not far off from dubious commercial animal feed and likely would induce gastric distress.

I am not opposed to alternatives while on HCG as P&I was written in an era when processed foods were not common. I would personally look to something like bovine colostrum as a "complete food replacement" as opposed to whey or bean powders. Simeons position on "vegetarians HCG plans" would probably be instructive. For many (although not all) self control issues surrounding food and food triggers are alleviated when adapted to the protocol. I had no idea how many advertisements were about food until I am on a diet!

Anyway please report in on how Soylent is working for you.

I'm really curious to know how OP did with a Soylent round. I rebounded and am back in the game. I counted calories for a few months but decided to ramp it up a bit with a round of hcg. I have done my first week so far with mostly shakes (occasionally a salad, steamed veggies or a piece of fruit) made of Soylent (I use the powder, not the premixed bottles) and others that I mixed in proportions to get as close as possible to the hcg protocol's proportions of macros. It's saving me a ton of time and some money and I haven't had any stalls or anything but I'm also not using straight soylent
