Thread: P2 Mini Steak and high protein days?

  1. #37

    P4 Steak Day

I have now been on P4, since the end of April. It's been going well. Last week, I went out camping with my friends and ate bad (a lot of snacks), plus had TOM this week. I was up 4-5 pounds higher than my adjusted weight. I thought maybe I would drop some lbs after my tom went away (nope). So, tomorrow I am going to try a steak day in P4 or maybe Bluetechseekers protein days.

Has anyone done a Steak day in P4?

I've had great success with steak days in P4. It may not take off ALL the gain, but you can follow up with a couple of high protein days to take off the rest. For you, the protein amounts can be higher - I'm finishing P2 and holding to 500 cals or less.

    Good luck!

I had been gaining and losing the same 3 pounds for about 10 days and was frustrated. I haven't eaten red meat in over 18 years, so I was concerned that a steak day would do more harm than good for me. Instead, I decided to tackle a few higher protein days in a row. I started losing again, although I don't know if it was due to the higher protein or because my body was just ready to start losing again. Anyway, here's what I did:

Breakfast (about 120 calories): 4 egg whites, 1/2 egg yolk, 1 tablespoon of skim milk, and either 50 grams of spinach or 100 grams of tomato scrambled together in a non-stick pan without oil/fat. I know that some people have trouble with eggs--so beware.

The rest of the day (360-380 calories): 2-3 regular servings (100 grams) of chicken/fish/seafood and around 80-100 calories of vegetables. Depending on my schedule, I would eat this as either 2 or 3 meals.

I did this for four days. After that, I did a couple days where I kept my breakfast, but did only 2 servings of protein the rest of the day and added one fruit back in.

Like I said, I don't know whether it was what let me start losing again, but I did. It wasn't as impressive a loss as the steak days are for others, but it seemed to kick start it and I lost 4.2 lbs in 6 days which is my biggest weekly weight loss since the first week. (I'm was on week 6.)

Wow S2KGirl, excellent results! I'm unfortunately at the point seafood, chicken, eggs - BLECH. I just can't do them, just can't. That basically leaves me ground beef or steak - both still taste great to me, and don't sit like rocks. It just goes to show we can each succeed in our own way

Because the steak is so lean and I'm a typeO blood time that reacts well to beef and knew I had good losses on true P3 steak days, I decided to try my own thing to try to break my yo-yo'g.

What worked for me may not necessarily work for someone else.

I had coffee in the morning (no half and half because it's P2), skipped lunch and had an 8 oz (raw weight) lean sirloin steak with all visible fat removed, broiled so there's no added fats/oils and with no salt used to season it. Along with it I had 175 g of roma tomatoes chopped up in 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar. The calorie total for the day was 350 calories. It dropped me down 2.6 lbs which was the most I'd lost in one day since the first week of that round.

Also in the later part of this long round I found my body seemed to react better with more protein. I was not eating fruit most days. I would increase my protein to 150 g or 200 g but always stay under 500 calories total for the day.
Ladies! I'm doing a steak day today (I'm in P2) because I've been losing slowly lately and I gained 1.1 lbs overnight. (Long story - I think it was a combo of water retention from playing tennis and eating tomatoes (in soup) for the first time. I just had a delicious medium-rare steak - probably like 275 grams - so 9 oz-ish - and I'm about to eat an apple...was debating on that, since it's P2 and I've seen contraversy, but I'm dying for something sweet now. (I have a killer sweet tooth after I eat anything savory.)

Anyway - really excited to see how it goes - I'm going to be chugging water and hot tea all night. Mmmm...? Haha.

the mini steak day i've found is 3.5oz of steak in the morning and at night with or without an apple or tomato (different version floating around)

and a double protein day is 3.5 oz of fish or chicken breakfast, and 2c lettuce or spinach added to that (the amount of meat) for lunch, and dinner.

    I haven't tried those yet.
I've only done a P2 egg day (4-6 eggs eaten throughout the day) and lost 2lbs. =]

I'm doing cantaloupe tonight to see how that works for me. (1/2 cantaloupe and a tall glass of water RIGHT BEFORE BED - usually substituting one fruit)
Been there, done that, gained it back, and here for good this time.

When you do a mini steak day, are you eating a large portion of steak(as much as you can eat) for dinner? Or are you still mindful about keeping the 500 daily calories? Also, are you keeping the fat in or removing the fat?

I did a mini steak day yesterday for the first time in 3 rounds. I did not eat all day (drank lots of hot tea, coffee, water) and then around 4:00 (that was as long as I could wait!) I ate about 8 oz. of lean sirloin steak and an apple. I did trim off the fat around the edges, but it was a pretty lean piece of meat to start off with. I dropped a 1 lb. this morning after being in a stall for several days. I just hope it sticks. We'll see tomorrow!

Alecia- now that I look at your stats- your losses are PHENOMENAL and I wouldn't bother doing anything different!

Hi y'all! So glad to have found this thread~ I've been wanting to do a steak day but couldn't find the info. I'm on about day 19 of vlc and it's going slower than molasses! I did an fff day the other day and lost about 1 - 1 1/2 (can't remember!) but thought I'd try steak.

Thanks for all of the ideas.....might just try 'em all!

    Red face

OK, I have been lurking these threads since I began, but I decided it was time for my first post! Here are my stats: R1, 5'3", began at 159, 26 days on VLCD, lost 15 lbs, down to 144. Using Rx injections. Decided to take some "off protocol" advice and do a steak day like the one some of the senior members have tried (THANKS Beth_M!!!!!!!! I want to hug you!!), since my losses were not as impressive as the ones I've been reading about on here (been following strict protocol though). So yesterday, I had a whole sliced cucumber for lunch, I bought a 7 oz filet mignon, seasoned it, grilled it, and ate that for dinner, along with a little asparagus and 1/2 a tomato, followed by an apple for dessert. Water and coffee the same, I drink about 1 gallon a day. I am down to 141 this morning, and that is without a BM, too! I just really wanted to say THANK YOU for sharing your advice on here, because you never know who is taking it, even when they're too shy to post anything!
