Has anyone had success with protein shakes?

I'm a newbie doing first round, so it probably isn't wise for me to experiment... however hunger has me considering this. The two vegan (I'm intolerant to most dairy products) protein shakes I am considering are around 3g fat, 15-20g protein, and around 110-140 cals. I plan on leaving out one fruit (maybe 2?) and toast to kinda make up for it. Has anyone had success with these types of changes to the protocol?

You should not be hungry on the correct dose of HCG. If you are, eating extra food will not fix that.

If hunger doesn't go away after meals, or by taking a hot drink, then you have a dose problem.

But to answer your question, vegetarians and vegans have had success replacing their protein portions with Jay Robb shakes (whey or egg white protein) and SunWarrior. Although with the SunWarrior shakes, you will lose about half the amount you would have with animal protein sources.

Some people add a protein shake after a hard workout. (This should not be necessary. If you are already doing a hard workout before starting HCG, your body is used to it and you will have enough energy to continue. You just won't have endurance to do more.)

But adding calories to the 500 allowed is off protocol, so doing that is a personal experiment. It may work for you, it may not. No way to predict.

If you are interested in doing this alongside others, there is a new round starting group here where you may get some more feedback and support:

You should be eating real food, not drinking "protein shakes".

The hcg diet is a great way to detox from bad eating habits, and can help you transition to healthier eating. Avoiding processed and pre-packaged foods, and eating whole foods instead, is much healthier. Avoid food products with long lists of ingredients, unpronounceable stuff, or hidden sugars.
