    First Day!

    Hi there!

My name is Kristin, and I'm new to this forum -- and HCG. After reaching my all-time high on the scale at 280.8, I'm in need of a radical change. I'm doing HCG injections, and after two days of loading, today was VLCD1. I'm doing 500 calories a day, along with phentramine to help suppress my appetite. I'm following a doctor's plan.

So far so good, but I'm nervous about failing. This is such a big change, and ever since being sexually assaulted in college, food has been such a comfort and crutch. I'm finally ready to do this for myself, but I'm scared about who I'll be once the fat suit comes off. My weight has been an excuse for a long time -- for not dating, not taking more risks, not feeling worthy or confident or capable. I'm setting that aside today, and putting me first.

Any encouragement and / or accountability you can all provide would be a most welcome gift!!

    More tomorrow.

Welcome Kristin, and I'm impressed with your candor and awareness of what brought you to a decision to change.

You are on your way to being stronger because you are overcoming your adversities. It's a new day!

The protocol is proven to work for nearly everyone. If you follow it, you will succeed. Also, if your dose is right, you won't need phentermine or any other appetite suppressant. Being on the right dose can mean you are so "not hungry" that you might even forget to eat, or not be able to finish you tiny meal. Using appetite suppressants can work against you, as it masks the hunger that tells you your dose is not quite right. Being on the right dose means you will lose the right kind of weight, your muscle will be preserved and you will be able to stabilize at the end of your round. Its critical to fix dose problems as soon as possible so that you don't get the opposite results.

So on HCG alone, it is normal to feel a little bit of hunger right before regular mealtimes, but you should not even be aware of hunger other times. We call that the "sweet spot". It's what sets the HCG protocol apart from other plans. A good starting dose for most people is 150iu, or 125iu. (125iu is the dose Dr. Simeons put everyone on.) Some doctors and clinics will start you much higher, and at the higher doses is where we commonly see hunger problems, slow losses and muscle wasting.

Please note that any suggestions I make are based on the Original Protocol.
