I'm not sure I would take Granny's advice to not have the morning or afternoon dose, each to their own, we are all in charge of our own health. Shelbyr I hope it gets sorted out for you and you feel better on this diet.

Vlcd # 5 is now completed, feeling great! I've had some problems with emotional eating in the recent past so I'm going to be on my guard the next three days, I usually can only go about 6 days before giving into that but I really think that's caused by deficiencies. So since I'm using stored fat and eating protein and veggies I'm confident I will be able to make it.
Glad to hear others are doing well!!!
Down to 137 now so I've been losing over a pound a day so far

I lost 1.6 overnight. Sort of disappointed since its only my second day and I thought I might have a slightly bigger loss (though I KNOW it will slow down a lot and have stalls....).

Saria171 (& the rest of our group) - I just finished reading a GREAT book called "Weight -Loss Apocalypse - Emotional Eating Rehab Through the hCG Protocol" by Robin Phipps Woodall. I learned a lot from it and am trying to change how I perceive food and my relationship to it. Quotes from the book:

"Many people falsely assume that when they lose the weight, they'll change their relationship with food."

"The growth in obesity isn't an indication that diets are failing, but rather suggests the way that we eat normally is the cause of the problem."

"You need to want to eat less in a culture that loves and encourages gluttony, without needing weight loss as a reward. To do this, you need to know what hunger feels liken and then do whatever your body tells you."
"And, even if the protocol is strictly followed, the participant must change the way he or she eats normally, in order to maintain any amount of fat loss. This requires the participant change the role that food plays in his or her life, and the protocol cannot do that. Until we are motivated and willing to change our normal way of eating, we will always "battle" our weight."

"If hunger is not the problem, then eating is not the solution."

The book teaches a "scale" to gauge your degree of hunger and a "scale" to gauge your degree of fullness. The "Mind:Body hCG Method" provides a new perspective in our relationship with food in a culture that loves gluttony. And gives an example of how to use these "scales" to guide your eating during (and after) the hCG protocol.

The author recaps Dr. S and the hCG protocol and then explains the roll of leptin in the eating and hunger process and how the hCG protocol is "a therapy for the entire hormonal regulation of the body."

Sorry to go on and on about this book - but I feel it does a super job of explaining the mental/emotional side of "battling" with weight as well as the hormonal reasons hCG works to reset metabolism....

SoulFire - I like your idea of identifying Motivations and Rewards and will work on my list. This will cause some introspection!

3TimeGirl - Nothing Phases Us is a fab name for our group! I don't know how to start a group etc since I am new to this forum....but I love the idea!

Hope everyone had good losses today!

    MY Motivations:
Being HOT and flirtatious (even if it is only with my husband) lol
Making my sister jealous (petty I know and very unhealthy! But we don't get along and she is one nasty pasty)
Being a fit and healthy mummy that my son can be proud of and a wife that my husband can be proud of
Having energy to cook healthy meals and snacks for the whole family... This is REALLY important to me!
Being able to wear pretty clothes that look great and fit properly
There are more but I can't think of them right now

    My Rewards:
Galvanic home facial machine (It arrived on Friday)
Shopping spree after I finish this phase 2 (with no budget!!!) but I am sensible with money so won't go too overboard.
    A massage
An afternoon in a day spa
    Hair cut and foils
    Eyebrow wax
    And a holiday!
    hello all!

i read this response from 3timegirl and really relate to it.

I am currently on vacation in Italy and when I return home, I will be starting my third round. I've done two rounds, lost the necessary weight but I seem to screw it up somewhere in between P3 and P4. So I am truly pulling all the stops this time for my third and hopefully last ever round of HCG.

hoping i can find support on this thread. I'm tired of bouncing up and down. I want to get to my goal weight of 120lbs and just STAY there. I feel like I'm losing the same 15lbs over and over again simply because I am in denial of the lifestyle and long term changes that have to be made. But this is it. No more BS. I have to do this one more time and I have to do it RIGHT.

thanks for having a place for me to say what I need to say. and any support you guys can give me, I'd really appreciate it. first day of VLCD will be July 9. here we go!

Good Morning All I have to tell you I am just LOVING~LOVING our group. I feel really lucky to have you all here.

to our newest Schatz welcome on board. Great to have you hear, I do envy that you have managed to keep it at the same 15 lbs--boy would I be happy with that! Give Italy a huge hug for me (my family is from Sicily)--you have been there during the playoffs! Italians know how to clelebrate- of course mostly with food and wine, so enjoy it all now.

Lysma Thank you so much for the book suggestion. Really sounds like I should buy it too. And 1.6 other than my first day of hcg I don't come anywhere near a drop of 1.6+ Think inches too, in a werid way I would rather fit nicely into a size 6 than be concerned what the scale says.

Saria A POUND A DAY Why are we not hearing the WOOO-HOOO victory scream from you? And we are all hear to slap your hand if you get tempted over the next few days when it gets hard for you. Trust me I believe we have all been there. Last night when I was serving cheesecake I could feel my tongue getting bigger and saying just one little crumb--how bad could it be for you? But it is that menatlly that got me here to begin with.

I am including a letter I get from the guy where I buy my hcg thought it was worth sharing

There are a lot of myths and theories about weight loss and losing weight. We hear so much about counting calories, exercise more, eat a low carb diet, eat low fat, low glycemic foods, eating for your blood type etc...

I tried the Lemonade Diet, the Cabbage Soup Diet, South Beach diet, Nuti Systems, Weight Watchers, non of these worked for me, and hear is why they didn't work. None of the diets address the reason why we are really fat in the first place.

What I learned by completing this diet protocol was that every human being has there own weight set point which is set by your hypothalamus gland when you are born. After years of eating junk, fast food, chemicals that are in most processed foods, your hypothalamus gland is pushed out of whack resetting your weight set point to a higher and fatter point. This is why it seems next to impossible to loose weight past a certain point, and keep the weight off.

If you do not successfully raise and reset your metabolism, and get rid of the food cravings we have developed over the years, we will instantly revert back to our fat selves.

With all of the diets I have mentioned herein you may lose one to two pounds per week. You will here them tell you that it is not safe to lose more than two pounds per week. This is baloney. All they want is for you to continue to take their food, potions and pills for six months, a year or for life, so they can keep taking your money. With the HCG
protocol, you will loose from a half pound to three pounds per day!

The Simeon HCG protocol is so successful because, it resets your hypothalamus gland, rids your body of those awful food cravings, and raises your metabolism back to where it is supposed to be. This is why it is called the "weight loss cure".

So everyone have a GREAT DAY-- Hope you all woke up this a.m. to outstanding losses- but any los is a loss

See you all later Have good one

LYSMA Thanks so much for sharing from The Weight Loss Apocalypse great points, I will look for that on Amazon. I've read some of Geneen Roth's books a few months ago and they have helped me start the journey but it's been a long process, mostly uphill though! I've found some structured eating charts on an eating disorder site; I haven't been using them while on the protocol because I don't seem to need them, but I plan to use them when in phases 3 and 4 to keep myself in check. I am also a firm believer in the "it takes 36 days to unbreak a habit" thing so I'm hoping after I hit that mark my new habits will be starting to form. I've been working on my social anxiety as well since I know that's the root of my emotional eating although most of it's caused by poor nutrition...And don't be sorry about going on and on about the book, the things you shared we great!!
3TimeGirl Here's my WootWoot!! I didn't lose anything on the scale today, but my waist has definitely slimmed!

I didn't actually weigh in yesterday, I just assumed I had lost another pound but must not have...But I do think I somehow ate too many carbs on saturday. I was at a friend's house over the weekend for her birthday party and I packed my cooler with already-made VLCD foods. I did so well on not being tempted when there was lots of sweets for the party!!

    Have a great day, everyone!!

Hello all, I am in a mad rush this morning and I skimmed quickly over everyone's responses, I will have to respond to everyone later on tonight

I went to the zoo yesterday with my family and walked up and down big hills, and seriously worked up an appetite! It was so hard! I didn't cheat, went to bed early, and woke up to a .4 loss. I honestly expected a gain because I thought with all the exercise I got yesterday that I would retain some water today, but nope! Yay! Anyway, that puts me at almost 9 pounds in 8 days, so I'm a happy camper. Ok I will respond again later on, hope everyone has a great day!

Hope it's not too late to join in here. Seems like lots of support, which I could certainly use. I'm slightly behind most of you in terms of VLCD, as today is day 3 of injections for me and day 1 of VLCD.

A bit of history: I'm 62 and have also battled my weight for most of my life. I weigh more now than I ever had. I also have tried almost every diet known to man and lots of them work to get the weight off (which I'm very good at!) but I've always put it all back on. I tried hcg once before - a little over a year ago - but stopped in the middle of the cycle because I had appendicitis and it wasn't feasible to continue. It's taken me this long to get my head around trying it again. I'm pretty determined this time but the truth will come AFTER I've lost the weight and try and keep it off. I still can't believe that I'll go through some real tough times battling diet after diet, be successful, and then eat my way up again. There must be something intrinsically wrong there! Rationally it doesn't make any sense so I can't quite figure out what overcomes me when I get down to a good weight. Sabotage? Stupidness? :-) I'm really hoping I can get past that this time around.

3TimeGirl - your original post caught my eye both because of your age and because of how old you were when your children were born. I have 3 children, the last 2 being born when I was 46 and 48. Yes, I know, sounds impossible, but there you go. (yes, they were both planned - long story. Somedays I question that decision now that they are 16 and 14!) After my last child was born, I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, way before it became a trendy diagnosis. I've been gluten free for 13 years and while I feel better physically, I think I tend to go overboard on the amount of food I eat to make up for all the things I can't eat.

In any event, I hope to be a part of this and both give and get as we go through the journey together.

The Weight Loss Apocalypse isn't into any kind of structure. Rather, it reminds us of the time when we were kids and so busy playing that we didn't go in to eat until we had real hunger....and then stopped eating as soon as we felt we had just enough so we could run back out to play. I can remember doing that: not eating until I was stuffed but focusing on getting back outside. Food just wasn't that important. I'm hoping the hunger scale works!

I've been paying attention to judging my true amount of hunger and I feel it's helping me. For some reason, I think it's my responsibility to make sure there is a meal prepared when my DH is hungry. And I was always cooking favorite meals that weren't always so healthy. I'm lucky that mt DH is very supportive of my weight loss efforts. I've started cooking what I need for my diet and cooking a double/triple portion for him. He can fill in with other items and is fine with that. Last night he cooked lobster tails on the grill and threw on a couple of hot dogs to supplement. Here's hoping he doesn't get tired of this!

Went to lunch with a group of women from my neighborhood (a monthly outing on the first Monday). I just had an iced tea. When they asked why I wasn't eating I just said I started a new diet and my plan was to not eat unless I was truly hungry. No social grazing! Didn't mention hCG because I don't want to try to explain it in a group setting or try to justify trying it....

3TimeGirl thanks for the encouragement! And thanks for starting the group! I was kind of "lost" wandering around on the forum reading posts but not feeling the connection I feel with this group!

Welcome Hondo1. This is a great group and glad you've found us!

Still working on my list Motivations and Rewards... Will post later.....

Hondo1 It is never to late!! It doesn't matter where you are in the process, you are still part of the experience. --The diet and the lifestyle change that comes after the diet are going to be key. So long story short WELCOME, happy for your give and take.

Trying a new recipe tonight from The HCG Diet Gourmet Cookbook by Tammy Skye. I have this e-book on my iPad on the Kindle app. The recipes all look fantastic! Some recipes look to be a bit rogue...but not too far off protocol. For this one - I am using store bought Organic Free Range Chicken Broth - low fat and no added msg that is made by Imagine. I bought it at Whole Foods. The ingredients are: organic chicken broth (filtered water, organic chicken), organic onions, organic celery, organic carrots, natural chicken flavor, organic spices, sea salt. I know that carrots are NOT on protocol, but I figure they added just enough to season/flavor the broth.

    Lemony Spinach and Chicken Soup

    Ingredients
    100 grams chicken
2 cups chicken broth (or substitute 1 cup water for 1 cup broth)
    1/2 lemon with rind
1-2 cups loosely packed spinach, cut into strips
    1 tablespoon onion,
chopped 1 clove garlic, crushed and minced
    1 stalk lemongrass (optional)
1/4 teaspoon thyme or to taste
    Cayenne pepper to taste
Salt and pepper to taste *

Lightly brown the chicken in small saucepan with a little lemon juice. Add the onion, garlic, spices, and chicken broth. Add lemon with rind and simmer for 20-30 minutes. Add the fresh spinach during the last five minutes of cooking. Serve and enjoy. Makes 1 serving (1 protein, 1 vegetable) 26 grams protein, 3 grams fat, 190 calories

I'm going to be on this diet a LONG time to lose this weight - and I feel like I need creative recipes to learn a NEW WAY of cooking for life. This recipe sounds like one I would eat even if it wasn't on a diet!
