There is no "should be" in P3. We are simply told to eat whatever we like except sugar and starch and to "watch" very sweet fruit. That's it.

Yes, Thank you. I realize that part. Right now I have the nutrients set at CARBS 20% - FATS 35% and PROTEIN 45%. Just wondering if these %'s should be tweaked at all .......

Can't find my reply.....maybe what I'm asking for is PHASE 4 then. I am done with Phase 3 tomorrow.

It's the same with P4 though--there are no recommended ratios. You just watch your weight to see what makes you gain and figure it out. It's very individual.

Lioness722, the HCG protocol was developed in the 1950s so there was no public awareness of nutrient macros. Plus, as Grammy noted, you have to test each food you add to make sure it doesn't cause gains or inflammation. I am T2D so I follow a ketogenic diet, everyone has different health concerns so their macros are different too.

For my own body, I like my fat ratio quite high. However, I don't track that sort of thing in P3. I just eat plenty of healthy fat, protein and tons of non-starchy veg for carbs. I'd estimate that gets my fat somewhere quite a bit higher than 50% and my protein grams higher than I would eat on a typical non-P3 day. I do eat a lot of servings of vegetables (8-10 or more) on P3 so that gets me some carbs, but I'm sure the percentage of calories is quite low.

On MFP, I have my ratios set to 50% fat and 25% each of carbs and protein for maintenance. However, I don't really track ratios on MFP; I track grams. I prefer to get a minimum of 50 grams protein (and preferably more; I don't like meat very much so this is a challenge for me) and a minimum of 100 grams carbs (I do prefer to keep carbs somewhere between 100 and 150ish grams). I don't really have a minimum or maximum amount of fat grams in mind, but since I drink plenty of half and half in my coffee and eat plenty of butter, I always get plenty to keep me satiated. Those ratios and numbers lead to a pretty natural way of eating for me and they keep me satiated. I do have to pay attention to protein because if I just ignore it altogether, I tend to keep eating less and less as time goes on and I don't feel very good when I do that.
